I really hope Uthoff sticks with my Mavs. It'll help drown out my utter sadness when Dirk retires...
First off EZ2 when I said replace, I meant to take his place on the roster. It's not likely they'll bring in anyone who will be one of the top ten scorers in league history. In all honesty someone will "Replace him", that doesn't mean they'll have the same level of a career. As for Utoff, who knows what he might turn into. He has many of the skills to be a very good NBA player. He might not stick, or he could be an all league player. Just glad he's getting an extended look.Okay, I understand the comparisons to Dirk as far as Jarrod being a tall white guy who can shoot.
But, lol, c'mon, a replacement for Dirk? We're talking about a guy who won a ring, was a league MVP, and during his prime averaged over 25 points/game.
I hope Jarrod does well in the NBA and has a nice long career. But, lol, some perspective here please.
the NBA is really hard to watch; these last 2 games, Dallas rested their starters extensively; the fans should not have had to pay pull price to watch one team's reserves vs another team's reserves
You're not wrong by any means. However, in regards to Dallas these last 2 games, fans knew the score and unless they bought tickets 3-4 weeks in advance, knew exactly what they were going to see. On them if they wanted to pay full price (or more) to see that.
Now, as far as the rest of the NBA goes, the resting of starters is certainly a top priority they need to address. If these players can't sack up for 82 games, either spread the schedule out more or drop some of the games. The latter isn't going to happen, because money.
Dirk already announced he's coming back for another year. Why would he play when Dallas can get a good look at players like Uthoff and Hammons to see what they can do?i am just thinking about season ticket holders; the product Dallas was putting on the floor after they got eliminated from playoff contention was not very good
did Dirk even play in the final home game? heck, i bet even Michael Jordan played in the final home game, where fans are shown appreciation....
the players who want to rest should take a pay cut!!! i know, like that is gonna happen!

Exactly. The Nets did it and received a bunch of scrutiny because it basically gave the Bulls a win and let them in the playoffs. It wasn't just the Mavs. A lot of teams rested their starters the last few games.

As a season ticket holder, that's just part of the risk you take when you accept paying for every home game in advance. Just like in any other sports avenue (college or pro).
As unoHawk alluded to above, there is just no reason to play the stars (Dirk, Barnes, nor Matthews played the final game - Coaches Decision) of the team when there is nothing to play for in the last game of the season and some young guys can get valuable experience. If it had been up to Dirk, I know he would've played. He's the ultimate professional.
I see where you're coming from, not disagreeing necessarily...there are just a few factors involved in this particular case.
Then I wouldn't buy tickets for that game. And I'm sure season ticket holders aren't upset about one or two games without the starters, especially if they realize that the team is trying to build for the futurei agree; i just wouldn't wanna pay for tickets where its literally D league/back up players vs D league/back up players
