I'm sure he'll be fine if he wants to play overseas but his nba dream is pretty much over for now. He just doesn't seem like the kind of guy who lives and breathes basketball. Is he hurting his chances at playing overseas?
I would be very surprised if JU decides to pursue a career overseas. Speaking to some people that know him well, they honestly don't think he wants to play in Europe, and he'll be content and happy being married and working for a bank in a few months.
I agree wholeheartedly. If he didn't care, he wouldn't have been as good as he was. And, his professional ambitions are of no one else's concerns beyond his wife really.Just because Uthoff didn't palpably show a drive, a hunger, a passion, or whatever he was supposed to demonstrate on the court to prove he didn't have a vagina doesn't mean he didn't care or didn't play to the best of his ability. There have been many NBA greats who had a stoic demeanor on the court and were still considered great players. And last I knew, the Big Ten didn't hand out first team honors to someone because they are good at chess and have an impressive smart money portfolio. Oh, and what was Uthoff's All-American status? Consensus? Hmmm...not bad for someone with a vagina who doesn't care.
And if he doesn't feel like playing basketball anymore on an organized level, more power to him. It's his life.
The kings are a mess and their primary focus has been Richardson Skal and the new big man. As much as I love that He ended up with the kings, I feel bad for him as they are grasping at straws as an organization. He was off to a good start two games ago, and did nothing for 20+ mins.Uthoff walked into a great summer league opportunity
with the the Kings as nobody on the team could score.
Rather than take some initiative and fire away, he decided
to listen to his vagina and not shoot. We all look forward to
hearing about his escapades in Europe.
Another way of putting it is, "He just had his priorities straight.""Just didn't want it bad enough" is how we can describe his senior year at Iowa (disappeared in big games), and how things are apparently going to go in the NBA too.
Yeah, it's like signing with the raiders ten years ago. Just a mess and disappointing. Cousins and WCS are the only bright spots. They don't have enough fire power. I think they thought that if JU can have a good summer showing on a crap team, it would give him some options.IMO going to the Kings was a bad move by he and his agent. That organization and summer team is such a mess that it really didn't allow him to perform well.
Abdel Nader has unquestionably performed better in the summer league than he did, which seems absurd to me.

Who is Utah?I think a lot of this comes down to being able to create your own shot. Yes, Utah can shoot over a lot of people, but he lacks the ability to juke someone.
Man there's a lot of resentment for our MVP and our first all-American since...? And pretty much the reason where we were the last two years.
Wtf is wrong with some of you?
Be critical all you want but some posters are acting like theyre personally insulted/embarrassed that he isn't doing well. Hence the wtf.He was a great player in college, but sometimes this does not transition to the NBA. Utoff plays soft and physical, athletic players take him out of his game.
Are you saying we can't be critical of his abilities after college/

Just to clarify I am disappointed for the young man. Not myself. I am sure he wanted to perform at a higher levelI am frankly very disappointed in Jared's performance in the nba summer league. It just goes to show what a good coach Fran is that he was able to coax as much out of him as he did. Jared looks now as if he has zero confidence. Really a shame.
I think that was apparent in the ISU game when Prohm put Thomas on him; not a big, strong guy, but he put a lot of physical pressure on him. And, of course, nobody can shoot for an entire game the way JU shot in the first half that night. After the Maryland game I knew he would have problems transitioning to the NBA. He seems to get flustered if a physical player gets on him and plays tough D.

Not me, I want him to do well. I have my doubts, but I wish him well. Who was the last Iowa player who transitioned to the NBA and played? Ryan Bowen?
The partial game I watched last week, I saw that Jarrod was not even getting the ball. Seemed everyone on the team was concerned about scoring and dishing up shot after shot without sharing the ball at all.
I forgot about Reggie. I live 20 minutes from his hometown and I saw him at a water park recently.
And for forgetting about his long NBA career he should have punched you in the nuts!
I did say whats up Hawkeye and he blew me off at the water park.
