Here is what ESPN says in their January 14 write up of Jarrod and other Wooden candidates:

Last week, the Hawkeyes devotees at Black Heart Gold Pants noticed Uthoff was averaging three blocks and two 3s per game, and wondered what kind of company that mix of statistics put Uthoff among. The answer? There is none. The closest any player in the College Basketball Reference database came to averaging three blocks and two 3s per game was Duke legend Shane Battier, who averaged two blocks and three 3s per game. Which is to say: Uthoff's combination of skills is literally unprecedented.

No one man should have all that power.

Maybe a more versatile Larry Bird, might be my comparison.

#goHawks.
But, as the BHGP folks pointed out, in all of College Basketball, statistically there is NO
one who compares to Jarrod Uthoff in terms of Blocked shots and 3 point goals.

NO ONE

Pretty sure that Dukie-boy-battier didn't Average Near the Blocked shots that
Uuuuuuuthoff does.

I rest my case

Dude, JU is really good but you're delusional, or really young, if you think he is on the same planet as Legend.

And I'd venture to say Fran would agree with me 100%. No disrespect to him as I think he's one of the best players in the country without question, but no.

Yeah, you're right. Larry Legend didn't have the number of Blocked Shots that Jarrod
Uthoff has this year, in his entire career.

Oh....................Dice Clay just slammed it, here.

Just took a look and Uthoff averages 2.1 3pg and 3.1 bpg
Battier averaged 3.2 3pg and 2.3 bpg

so they are more similar than you think.

Once Uthoff wins a national championship, player of the year and plays 15 years in the NBA, maybe then we can start comparing him to Battier. How about we just enjoy that we have a special player instead of always trying to compare him to someone.

Tayshaun Prince, but Uthoff is a better shooter, especially considering that TP played with the 19'9" line. TP was a bit of a better distributor. Otherwise they're pretty much the exact same size and have a very similar game.
