UV Light Now Used Against Covid?

Umm UV light is being used to sanitize surfaces and objects. That's actually something that's been done for a while now. It's not a treatment (like Trump suggested). You think getting on a tanning bed is gonna cure your COVID??
possibly, if you have a bleach dispenser.

We've always known UV light impacts the Chinese virus

Using UV light to clean a hospital room is NOT what the president said. What the dipshit said is right there in the Breitbart article. You're just too dumb to comprehend.

This article is perfect example of Breitbart telling you to believe something in the headline, but the underlying article is the opposite.

Since at least April, scientists have been working on using Ultraviolet (UV-A phototherapy) to kill virus in internal organs. Trump did not say it's a treatment. He said it should be looked at. And, it is being seriously explored. Nice talking point though.

[T]he pharmaceutical firm Aytu BioScience announced on April 20, four days before the Trump remarks, that it has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The center has developed and is testing a UV-A “Healight” designed to be inserted via a catheter inside the trachea to kill pathogens, including the coronavirus.

People much smarter than you think it can be used that way.

No; I have experience in this area, and understand that UV light at levels that will kill viruses and bacteria are also carcinogenic. In layman's terms a MAGA like yourself might understand: a "sunburn".

They are a perfect example of people who think they possess way more knowledge on each and every topic than they actually do.
One of the hallmarks of a truly intelligent person is to admit ignorance and seek knowledge and understanding. The very process of learning involves repeated trial and error.

Too many MAGA Trumpers including their dear leader are experts on every topic and claim to never make mistakes.

Abstract
Ultraviolet blood irradiation (UBI) was extensively used in the 1940s and 1950s to treat many diseases including septicemia, pneumonia, tuberculosis, arthritis, asthma and even poliomyelitis. The early studies were carried out by several physicians in USA and published in the American Journal of Surgery. However with the development of antibiotics, UBI use declined and it has now been called “the cure that time forgot.”

It’s called the Wikipedia phenomenon, at least according to one of my professors. Basically someone reads one paragraph on a topic from one source and thinks they have detailed knowledge.

Light as a potential treatment for pandemic coronavirus infections: A perspective

"The ubiquity of inexpensive light emitting lasers and light emitting diodes (LEDs), makes it relatively easy to develop safe low-cost light-based devices with the potential to reduce infections, sanitize equipment, hospital facilities, emergency care vehicles, homes, and the general environment as pilot studies have shown."

Yes. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'D TOLD YOU: THEY'VE USED IT FOR DISINFECTING FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR MANY MANY YEARS. NOT FOR KILLING THE VIRUS INSIDE OF PEOPLE.

It is also used in HVAC systems to purify air from bacterial growth.

Or...it simply didn't work and was dangerous.
They used "radiation" as a cure-all back then, too, before realizing how dangerous IT was....

We still use it, but there's a helluva lot more safety around its use.

Now, explain how this is "shining light into people"

Because, it's NOT.

UBI has always caused much confusion, both in the general public and also in some medical professionals, because germicidal UV light (UVC) is used to sterilize water, disinfect surfaces, and as an aid to infection control in operating rooms, and food processing and packaging plants. Many people therefore assume that UBI must act by killing pathogens (bacteria, viruses or other microorganisms) circulating in the bloodstream. However there is no evidence that this is actually the case.

Ergo: this isn't what you're claiming it to be, related to Trump's statement. Totally different animal. Google fails you, when you Google stuff you don't understand at all and post it to prop up Trump statements, bro.

You must have accidently missed this passage.

Modern technology now makes flexible printed micro-LEDs readily available, making it relatively easy to develop therapeutic tools with the potential to reduce bacterial and potentially viral infections. In relation to COVID-19, some relatively easy targets are the nasal and oral cavities, and the upper respiratory tract, particularly as the nasal passage is an acclaimed point of entry of the virus into the human body [81]. Antimicrobial blue light may serve another useful purpose in reducing the COVID-19 pandemic; it could be used effectively to sanitize equipment, tools, hospital facilities, emergency care vehicles, homes, and the general environment as pilot studies have shown

Again: that's pipe dreams. Reducing infections isn't "treatment" for existing infections. THAT is what Trump's statement was about.

Infection reduction is exactly what I've posted above: Killing the virus on surfaces.

And, FWIW, fomites are a minimal source of infection transmission for this disease.

You posted this back in April/May, and there's still no clinical trial work for it.

The links to Aytu Bioscience in the WashTimes article link back to..........the WashTimes....
(shocker)

Ergo: it was propaganda.

Do you think it is out of the realm of possibility that the leader of the free world MIGHT have a little more insight as to what experimental treatments and methods are being used behind the scenes than you or I? There is a pretty good chance that all of the things he was talking about were things that were being researched that the public doesn't know about.

And perhaps the leader of the free world needs to be completely clear as to what he's saying? Words matter in the middle of crisis

What came out of his mouth was nonsense

Not a chance Trump understands any of this better than any average-educated scientist or layman. He's literally an idiot on this topic.

I think there's a very solid chance you're even dumber than Trump, for believing what he says and defending him on this point.
