Van Ginkel

I'd really hate to see this kid at Wisconsin or Nebraska.. DE may not be a position of need, but he's to good to pass up.

I see where he's narrowed his choices down to Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Didn't RecruitR tell us he was a lock to the Golden Gophers? I really like his skill set, hoping the Hawks can close the deal.
That is the list for who gets second.

He's a Hawkeye. Book it.
I sincerely hope you're correct there. Great news if true ...

What folks have to remember is that while we'll have a lot of young talent at DE ... experienced talent at a position is absolutely invaluable. AVG has the opportunity to help the Iowa DEs reach the "next level." That is a very cool consideration!

Nothing can replace a motor like his; every once in a while, an old saying that is no longer politically correct still resonates with truth. I first heard it from my father, a university head football coach from the south, more than sixty years ago (and later from our beloved Hayden Fry) - but I know it's been around forever. Remember? "It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog."

From what I have seen and sensed, I believe that Mr. Van Ginkel will leave his heart and his blood on the field, and will take no prisoners; that he will live and leave a legacy of greatness. Now, what remains to be seen - does he bleed red, maroon or black and gold?

Maroon?

I never bought into the "playing time" argument that was advanced to predict that AVG would accept the Minnesota offer. My USD friends and contacts all pretty much agreed that Van Ginkel is the type of athlete who is very self-confident in his ability and that he truly believes that he will play at any of the schools that had offered him. His finalist list now essentially confirms that.

I have not heard of Nebraska or Wisconsin heavily pursuing him. Seems like ours to lose at this point.

This kid has the potential to be special. I really think he has high draft ability. Weight is only negative but that will come and I have zero concerns with that at this level.

Hope he wants to be a Hawk

RecruitR must be leaning a little too heavily on the crystal ball predictions made on 247 sports. The problem with those is that they swing wildly based on interviews with the kids AND they don't always get updated.

How many years of eligibility will he have when he arrives on campus as a JC recruit? Would he have a RS year available as well?

is there bad blood between a few of you on here? if there is maybe you should take it somewhere else and get it settled. to get on here you would think there is junior high kids on here by how you call names and fight. I enjoy coming on here to learn more and to see what others know so I can be excited about our Hawkeyes.

Most just don't like bad information from people who claim to be in the know that gets posted all over the place. My suggestion would be just to put them on ignore.

Wisco fan here...yesterday the Badgers recieved a commitment from Alabama transfer OLB/DE Christian Bell. That was Van Ginkel's scholarship and they likely don't have room for him any longer.

Good luck with him versus NEB
Just looked that kid up. My God, you guys are collecting transfers like Pokemon! What is the deal?

Thanks for info.

If anyone is afraid of competition, I'd be good with them going somewhere else. I do however think he'd be great at linebacker that could blitz off the edge.

Yes, that's a handful of transfers now for Chryst.

I don't expect it to be a regular thing going forward but Chryst has to fill holes from Gary Andersen's tenure. He was recruiting a different style player and Chryst is moving back to the more traditional Wisconsin style.

Being from his high school, our FB coach told us there coaches told him if he had 4 years of eligibility Alabama would've offered him.

You watch or ever play much fball?
We blitzed more than ever last year.
I worked for 3 nfl organizations, so yes, I know a little bit about football. How many times you see an iowa linebacker blitz off the edge last year?

Sure you did.
You realize we play a 4-3 correct.
Do alot of nfl teams blitz off the edge out of a 4-3?
