Biotech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy plans to step away from his role as the co-leader of President-elect Donald Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” initiative before launching his bid for Ohio governor early next week, according to a person familiar with Ramaswamy’s thinking who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preview his plans.
The person said the departure is not due to any disagreement with DOGE co-leader Elon Musk, but that it became clear to Ramaswamy that he could not run for governor and co-lead the effort at the same time. The Washington Post first reported Ramaswamy’s intention to run to replace Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R), who is term limited, last week.
