Just sharing what recruiting is like vs the SEC. Don't want to discuss it, that's fine. Thought some might find a fairly publicized pay scheme interesting."Rosie picks inside the history of recruiting and some of the tactics that still go one."
Does he discuss Nebraska recruiting tactics from the 80's and 90's?
Feel free to hit the "ignore" button. You'll notice I made no comment about Nebraska in my post. It's just an interesting player pay accusation that I thought others might find interesting.Homeboard
yes, he threw some shade at Nebraska and used names."Rosie picks inside the history of recruiting and some of the tactics that still go one."

The only part about Nebraska is they were the leader, but Frost refused to play the game, so the kid chose Kentucky.
This doesn't have a lot to do with Nebraska's seasons or anything like that. I think Iowa fans believe their program is clean. I thought fan's of a program they believe to be clean would find interesting how some of the not-so-clean dealings unfold.I'm guessing you think Nebraska is among the clean programs. Last I checked, Nebraska is in the top 20 in recruiting and has lost 14 games the past two seasons.
Allegedly. What is put out there is not always the truthThe only part about Nebraska is they were the leader
Feel free to ignore. See my comments on why I shared. Yes, this is about a dealing with Nebraska. I just thought a program like Iowa probably has to battle stuff like this itself, so I thought a few fans would find it interesting. There is a Nebraska site. You know this, right?
Take it however you want. There is no secret that this stuff goes on, especially in the south. There are a lot of details about how the arrangement actually went down that are starting to leak. I didn't think about sharing them because I'm not trying to make this about Nebraska. This is just one of the more public "paying players' families" stories I've heard in a while. Given the timing, it seemed others might find it interesting.Allegedly. What is put out there is not always the truth
Top 10 program? There is a difference between a team being ranked at some point during the season in the top 10 and a program being "top 10". There are only so many top 10 programs (usually its 10), Kentucky isn't one of them.He chose a top 10 program over a team in the middle of a 2-13 run. Shocker.

No big deal if you don't care. I find stuff like this interesting and thought I'd share. Carry on.
Super interesting, isn't it?It is interesting. Even more interesting coming from a Husker fan.
Could we as Iowa fans, draw the same conclusion about Henrich growing up an Iowa fan, with Iowa ties not taking an official visit? Surely the home school didn’t pull some of these tactics you’re accusing Kentucky of.
Yes he actually did. I’m sure the same type of stuff happened at Iowa."Rosie picks inside the history of recruiting and some of the tactics that still go one."

Don't be so defensive.
Feel free to ignore me. Problem solved. I'm not the one with the issue. Not really defensive as sick and tired about hearing about a crappy football team. Like I said, there is a Nebraska site.

do you really think nebraska gets all their 4 stars w/o giving a little something extra?Take it however you want. There is no secret that this stuff goes on, especially in the south. So burn down Alabama, then, why don't you?Feel free to ignore. See my comments on why I shared. Yes, this is about a dealing with Nebraska. I just thought a program like Iowa probably has to battle stuff like this itself, so I thought a few fans would find it interesting.

It was widely thought to be between OSU and Nebraska for the last however many weeks. Suddenly, the night before his commitment, Kentucky makes an in-home visit, and this stuff swirls. That's the part that's weird.I'd pick Kentucky over Nebraska any day of the year. I'd encourage any other potential college student too as well whether they are an athlete or not. Nebraska brings nothing to the table.
I don't think any team is 100% clean and by the books all the time. Pretty much all color outside the lines at times - of course the magnitude is different.
Iowa has had to deal with this more than a couple times over the years. One of the more recent ones was Chevin Calloway. He was an Iowa commit and a very highly rated CB. He then gets an offer from Ole Miss and a couple other SEC schools because the rumor is that he was shopping for a school. I will quote a Mod here but they said "Iowa wasn't going to play in that sandbox." He soon decommited and ended up at Arkansas.
As far as Nebraska, didn't you find it a bit odd about snagging a bunch of 4 star kids from California to play for Riley (I know the staff had connections)? And what about the rumors that Keyshawn Johnson was a street agent for those kids? I am not saying I believe it, but just because it was put on the internet doesn't make it true.
Where you're wrong is that you think I'm mad at all. This stuff happens, normally there isn't so much of a public "outing" of information. So I was interested in a discussion with people who don't have a horse in this specific race, that's all.do you really think nebraska gets all their 4 stars w/o giving a little something extra?
I highly doubt that.
not sure if you're mad that you guys aren't cheating enough or that others are cheating as well.
I don't think paying players will fix the issue of bag men. The only way you are going to be able to pay players is pay them all the same in all the sports that are offered. Currently (depends on the school and location) but players get a stipend of close to $5000/year or around $500/month to do whatever they want with. If every school offers the same financial incentives then bag men will still be in business.
I don't. Some people think that letting players make money off their likeness would solve the problem. Who do you think gains the most from that? If I am Nike who am I going to sponsor or make an Ad about? The QB of a blue blood program that happens to be a Nike school and has a ton of fan support. Or the QB of Kansas? Even though the QB at Kansas may have better stats that season. What do you think the solution is, then? Is there a way to stop it or level the playing field?
