I can't disagree. I have no idea how you stop it. Maybe paying players eliminates some of the kids who would normally take money?I don't. Some people think that letting players make money off their likeness would solve the problem. Who do you think gains the most from that? If I am Nike who am I going to sponsor or make an Ad about? The QB of a blue blood program that happens to be a Nike school and has a ton of fan support. Or the QB of Kansas? Even though the QB at Kansas may have better stats that season.
So to answer your question, I really don't have an answer. Even in the NFL with all the salary caps, I bet there are unreported side deals trying to get players to sign for a little less money than they are worth just so they can stay under.
Not much to discuss imo. Some schools cheat a lot and nobody does anything to stop them. It is what it is......Where you're wrong is that you think I'm mad at all. This stuff happens, normally there isn't so much of a public "outing" of information. So I was interested in a discussion with people who don't have a horse in this specific race, that's all.
Would you be okay with Iowa doing certain things in order to compete for the highest level players?
I read on a Husker Board that Iowa lost a recruit to Alabama because the recruit didn't know how to return the money bag that was left for him in his hotel room on his recruiting visit. Is there truth to that?
It's simple, tell each team they have up to 2M a year they can spend on players. If they spend 1 cent more or anyone related to the school(in any way) gets caught paying under table, you ban them from bowl games and championship games for 10 years.I can't disagree. I guess the one thing that hasn't been mentioned is the NCAA committing to cracking down on it. It won't stop it all, but it would make it a lot more difficult to get away with it.

I believe the OP was referring to the "last minute" change of heart. As I understand the situation, this player had an announcement date set and a 2-3 schools (including Nebraska) were widely viewed as finalists by the recruiting experts. Then, basically the night before announcement day, out of nowhere Kentucky suddenly appears on the scene with an in-home visit and secures a commitment. That scenario is a bit odd even if nothing illegal transpired. So a kid has an in home visit from a staff and then the next day he commits to that staff/school? Boy, that is almost unheard of and must mean shady things are happening.
I’m with TBones on this.Just sharing what recruiting is like vs the SEC. Don't want to discuss it, that's fine. Thought some might find a fairly publicized pay scheme interesting.
Nothing to the table?? About 1000 threads a year on the Iowa Rivals board so they must be pretty important eh?I'd pick Kentucky over Nebraska any day of the year. I'd encourage any other potential college student too as well whether they are an athlete or not. Nebraska brings nothing to the table.
