Great story, hats-off to Mensah-Stocks and Katy, Tejas. Olympic gold is an extremely tough grind. Also lived in the Katy area for many years (Houston). Recently watched Mensah-Stocks' Olympic trial match with eighteen year-old Kennedy Blades. Great match, Blades maybe the face of women’s wrestling in the near future, a major talent.
For whatever reason the small community of Katy, Tejas seems to produce a significant number of great college athletes. Football, Baseball and Volleyball athletes come to my notice. Now add an Olympic Gold Medal Wrestler to that list.
Years ago Katy was a railroad town; the Kansas-Texas Railroad, later shortened to the K-T Railroad, consequently becoming the community of Katy. A community with an impressive history. The Eyes of Tejas are upon you Tamyra Mensah-Stocks, congratulations! And a huge shout-out to folks of K-T.
