Was Anthony Nelson credited with any sacks?

Didn't check the boxscore but was in the backfield all night long again and just missed about 3-4 more sacks on Lanning. Was a nice Hayden style curb stomping and I didn't need my Maalox in the 2nd half as per typical Iowa/ISU games.

1 sack ... close on a few others. As he refines his craft, he'll learn to read opposing O-linemen better ... and he'll get there even MORE OFTEN. Fun thought to consider!

Also, just as important, he'll learn to hold the edge better. There were a number of times he failed to set the edge ... and it led to more rushing yards than should have been had. Comparing Anthony as a RS FR to Hesse as a RS FR ... it's obvious that Anthony is the better pass-rusher ... however, Hesse was better against the run. Part of that could have reflected the different emphases during camp. Iowa was weak against the run in '14 ... so having better, more disciplined play against the run was likely emphasized. Now, looking to '16 ... we knew that we'd need more pass-rush out of the DL ... so consequently, the DEs have correspondingly got more work at it.

Also, it's worth noting that last week, Anthony got sacks on either side he was at. When Parker returns, I anticipate that Parker and Anthony will be our starters. Matt will still see plenty of reps though. However, my guess is that they'll simply have Matt come in exclusively at his usual spot to spell guys ... that way Anthony will just slide over to the blind side.

Man, glad Iowa finally decided to offer him. Can't imagine what this kid could turn in to. Fun to watch him rush the passer
