The Huskies will stack the box and dare Cade McNamara and his bevy of receivers to beat them. And in obvious passing situations, which is when Iowa tries most of its passes, the Huskies will pressure Cade, unlike Phil Parker, who prefers to let QBs sling it all over the yard in the hopes they'll make a mistake.

Yes, the Huskies' defense will do exactly what every other defense does against what we're told is the Iowa offense.

With McNamara at QB, Iowa is like a '75 chevy without an engine. No matter how much you push it or pull it, it can't go very far. But the crazy thing is, you've got a 2018 Ford in the garage with a brand new engine and a fully charged battery, but your daddy won't let ya drive it. He says it's too dangerous and too flashy to take out on the street.

But the weather forecast is excellent, so those of us who show up can at least take in a nice fall day and enjoy the spectacle of major college football . . . the tailgating, the band, the trees changing color . . .

Have you crunched the numbers on play tendencies? Just for fun, I glanced through the play-by-play for the first half of the Minnesota game, and see passes on first down and on second and medium (4 or 5 yards). Strategy changed to feature the run in the second half, which proved to be a good move, but the very first play was a roll out pitch-and-catch. A QB change may be in order, but play-calling isn't nearly as predictable as you ASSume.

It's a given that wash strategy is to stop the run. They would like nothing better than to force Iowa to throw 30+ times. Odds are very much in wash favor if they keep Iowa under 100 yards rushing and force the Hawks to throw.

Stack the box but discipline your safeties not to overplay incase KJ finds a crease. Blitz on obvious passing downs. Cade can’t throw or run.

Opposing defenses are probably not all that concerned when facing the Hawkeye offense.
Opposing Coach, " Here are the 4 plays they run and the formation will inform you of which play"

Every team does that. So far it has worked for ISU and OSU. Maybe it works for Washington, maybe not. That's why they play the games. 10-2. GO HAWKS!

This is litetally what every team does against Iowa.

While I agree that Iowa could blitz more on defense, we haven't been super successful getting to the QB when we do that either.

that 2018 ford, may i ask which model it is? also brand new engine means the manual likely recommends not to exceed 50mph for first 3000 miles anyway. kirk knows that the 75 chevy lost its original engine so he’s put in a refurbished one granted with a defective carburetor but he’s rigged a turbo such that if it fires car occasionally books at a high rate of speed.

all that said iowa will move the ball. if we could on mn we should on wa. my worry is with our defense, specifically pass defense.

Every team going forward will do that after what happened against Minnesota. Luckily, Cade has been really accurate with throwing, despite most passes being very short. Had a few really nice passes to Gill and Buie that were much longer. Going to need more of that going forward. Luckily, the toughest defense we play this year is now behind us.

Washington just played Michigan, who has some of the same issues Iowa does on the offensive side of the ball. My guess is they try their best not to let Kaleb get the run game going and dare Cade to toss the ball. In order to not give Cade much confidence just send the blitz early and often to keep him rattled.
