Not too far from corn
The wife(no pics) and I are heading to Waterloo to watch the Davenport Central vs Waterloo West football game Friday evening.

Do any of our locals have a good dinner recommendation either in Waterloo or on the way from Davenport to Waterloo? We're planning on leaving with enough time to spend an hour at dinner and still make it to the game at 7:00, fyi.

Hickory House in Waterloo is a pretty solid little dive spot. Good food, classic wood paneled supper club decor.

Edit - it is the D&K hickory house.

Are you looking for sports bar-ish type food? There really isn’t anything worth a shit close to Memorial Stadium. There is an OP (Other Place) on Ridgeway in the ‘Loo and one on University in CF. I would say both are about 10ish minutes from Memorial. Solid bar food and known for their pizza.

Looks like they suggest making a reservation, according to Facebook posts from a year ago. That probably rules them out. I don't want to make a reservation and then end up running 30 minutes late getting out of town.

That was going to be my suggestion too. That or the casino. If you make the trek into Cedar Falls you double your choices, especially on Main St

I bet you’ll be fine. I haven’t been there in a few years, but when I would end up in the loo, we would always just walk in. Several times with parties of 10+

Good to know. Everything I was seeing was from right after they apparently had to rebuild due to a fire. Understandable that it may have been a little busier than normal at the time.

Tell me more...
There isn’t one in the Cedar Valley. You have to go to classier joints like Flirt’s or Airline where you have a decent chance to get shot or stabbed.

Another option is Single Speed Brewery in Waterloo by the Sports Plex. Good food and good beer in the old wonderbread factory. It’s about 15 minutes or less from the stadium. I’m a regular at Mulligan’s in CF. Good beer selection and good food except the mozzarella sticks. They are ass. Good patio outside and usually very nice scenery. Mully’s is a 10ish minute drive as well. Same with pepper’s. There are a lot of places to eat downtown CF. Parking can be a pain but you can hop on 218 and be at the venue in short order.

Ahh, Mulligan’s, I have some fond and not so fond memories of that place.
