Iowa has three players signed from the current 2019 class that will be joining the roster for this fall. Megan Meyer, Gabby Marshall, and McKenna Warnock will no longer technically be recruits. However, Iowa has three players verbally committed in the 2020 class and another in 2022. Sharon Goodman, Shateah Wetering and [just recently] Lauren Jensen have pledged to play for Iowa beginning in 2020 and are due to sign their NLIs this fall. Hannah Stuelke, a 6'1 Forward out of Cedar Rapids, also recently announced her decision to join the Hawkeyes in 2022. With the 2019 AAU season already started, there should be plenty of recruiting news to discuss here.

I enjoy learning about the new Hawkeyes and hope everyone else here will join me and participate in this thread. By sharing information we can all learn about the future Hawkeyes. Thank you in advance and Go Hawks!

Thanks for starting this. I am hoping that this year will help Bluder snag Caitlin Clark. If Bluder is ever going to get a national level recruit with offers from schools that prize athleticism, Clark is that player.

Does anyone have insight into Notre Dame's recruiting, roster, and offense? A quick glance says they got a highly rated point guard in this year's class, and also have a 4 star point guard in the 2020 class. If their offense is like Iowa's that doesn't mean a whole lot. If their offense has more defined roles (point guards stay at point guard, wings play the wings) then maybe Clark isn't a huge priority for them in the 2020 class.

Here is a link to a forum I follow with some information about ND's guard situation, should be the first post. Recently they have had a lot of injuries at the point which moved Marina Mabrey to the point the last couple of seasons

Looking at NDs roster they have ‘a bevy’ of good guards, three of which were freshmen this year and the one you mentioned arriving this fall. I would think they were all highly ranked players. They are all one to two years ahead of Caitlin. Within two years, they could all be incumbent starters.

Judging just from what little is publicly known, I believe Notre Dame would probably still like to have her, but she probably does have a lower chance to start or play there immediately behind all those potential incumbent starters (with two to three years of eligibility left), than at Iowa, where there will be two starters (Kathleen & MaKenzie) graduating just as she is set to begin college. Furthermore, I have no doubt that Caitlin has been made to feel very welcome at Iowa and that she is giving very serious consideration to the Hawkeyes.

What do everyone think about Logan Cooks future in the program?

In retrospect, she certainly could have red-shirted this past season. I have to wonder if that was the original plan before the Martin injury. Cook was still wearing that boot Wednesday, anyone know what the injury is?

I was hoping for only a sprained ankle, but it evidently must be a little more than that.

‘Since the Whitney Jennings scandal that was covered up by the University Iowa has not been able to get any top recruits. With this being Bluder's last year of her contract I believe she will be retiring at the end of this year’
What is defined as ‘end of the year’?

Who called you “an idiot”? I will answer that for you since I’m certain you won’t. No one! I repeat. No one called you “an idiot” and that assertion is just the most recent of your many inaccuracies. If they did, you could quote their comment here, but you won’t, because you can’t. Just more nonsense.

I know you cannot see yourself objectively as a flawed person, but you are, so I forgive you. I hope someday you can get over your personal grudge and overcome your bitterness and misery. That is no way to live. Good luck.

PS I hope you are right about Caitlin.

Whats with all of the beating up of Lisa Bluder. She has been a great coach and a great mentor for these kids. Keep your opinions to yourself and stop acting like they are facts.

For fear of getting him back on the board I will avoid saying it 3 times. Non Posters is the owner of that narrative.

There was never a scandal. Whitney simply didn't want to be at Iowa. She was excused from summer workouts after her redshirt year and allowed to go home because she claimed to be homesick.

After starting as redshirt freshman, she asked for a transfer so she could play closer to home and was granted a conditional release preventing her from transferring to Purdue, Indiana or Notre Dame. She chose to transfer to Butler.

Did Whitney have something in her personal life that factored into her decision? If she did, she chose not to disclose it and nothing was ever stated publicly.

If the University or Coach Bluder had something to cover up, Whitney would have been granted a full release. If there was a "scandal" it wasn't anything that Coach B or the University was responsible for. We may never know if there were factors other than homesickness that played into her decision but the University had no reason to cover up anything and anyone who says otherwise is full of it.

Whitney never red-shirted at Iowa. She played two seasons, starting the vast majority of the games, and then left.

Whitney was homesick her first summer (pre-Freshmen year) on campus and tweeted something many took out of context. Like most on the team she went home after summer workouts ended but came back earning a starting spot over Kali Peschel after a few games. She also had a boyfriend playing college ball at a small school in Indiana which probably went into her decision to leave.

It should also be noted Bluder did coach Whitney hard trying to teach her how to play the point guard spot in her system. Whitney struggled in that role trying to learn how to get everyone involved and knowing when to take her own shot and even lost her spot to 5* FR Tania Davis for 2 non-conference games. In January at Purdue Tania moved into the starting lineup with Whitney moving over to the 2G but the offense just never gelled. Whitney was basically recruited over as Tania was clearly the better point guard for the Iowa offense and with both 5'5 or under Whitney's future role was uncertain had she stayed. With Whitney transferring that's also why Iowa pursued Kathleen Doyle once she got her release from Nebraska, not a bad trade-off. No scandal at all took place.

I missed this scandal. Care to elaborate?

2019 Boo Williams Nike Invitational (part 1)

Final
All Iowa Attack 10th Nike EYBL 83
Boo Williams 16 EYBL 39

This was expected to be a competitive contrast of styles with Iowa shooting a lot of threes. Boo Williams was expected to dominate in the paint with a fleet of Division 1 athletic post prospects plus enough defensive quickness to contest (it didn’t happen) Iowa’s threes.

Wrong! This was over by halftime as the Attack hit 12 threes to zero for Boo and led 54-18 at the break. This included a 22-0 Iowa run in quarter 2. In the second half, Iowa added five more threes to finish with a 17 to 1 edge in the category. The Iowa posts did enough to keep any Boo Williams interior edge to a minimum.

All-tournament team member Caroline Waite (see below) led Iowa with 17 points followed by Ava Hawthorne (5-10, guard, 2022) with 16 points.

2019 Boo William Nike Invitational
Marques Jackson 16U Division
All-Tournament Team

Hannah Stuelke, 6-1, power forward, 2022, All Iowa Attack 10th Nike EYBL (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) MVP

Orally committed to Iowa, Stuelke may have been Iowa’s key player as she controlled the middle (rebounding, some interior scoring, defending) allowing its fine three-point shooters (at least four) to do their thing. Although playing (hard) mostly in the lower paint, she did show some face-up stroke in the upper key.

Caroline Waite, 5-6, point guard, 2021, All Iowa Attack 10th Nike EYBL (Ames, Iowa)

Waite plays with both fearlessness (penetrating the key, usually dishing) and energy (hitting the floor for loose balls). Her play (11 points including a couple of threes and high energy) in the first half set the tone for her team’s blowout victory in the final.
