WBB recruiting for the future

If McCabe commits, that likely means the class of 2022 is done nearly two years before the players will step foot on campus. That's very impressive, and it also means the coaches can spend more time building relationships with the class of 2023 and 2024 while other teams are still working on 2021 and 2022.

Hawkbuck70 had inside info before anyone last year on the the commitment of Caitlyn Clark to Iowa. Hope your right again as this would be a huge get for the WBB program.

Here's McCabe's highlight tape from last year. Some initial thoughts: she might be the most perimeter-oriented scorer I've seen. 80 plus percent of that video is made threes. She has a quick release, and is particularly good at creating small pockets of space to shoot via pump fakes or quick dribbles. She can also find her shot off the dribble or via cuts off the ball, which is good. She's probably best suited to play the 2 in college, but there's enough dribbling and passing talent there that she can handle the ball and potentially play PG some.

I'll throw out a Makenzie Meyer comp, but McCabe might end up being a better scorer than Meyer.

...............another All Iowa Attack kid. Stuelke, Gyamfi and McCabe all 22’s from AIA.
Isn't Affolter also from AIA too? It definitely does not hurt to fill out these recruiting classes with players who have already been teammates for a number of years. Particularly when their AAU team doesn't seem to lose. And there's some top-100s sprinkled in there.

McCabe definitely looks like she has a natural quick release and good handles. That gives her more flexibility on the perimeter. Is she on any 2022 rankings?

Looks to have a better handle and more offensive versatility than Mac Meyer.

Yep, Affolter joined AIA this summer season. The '23-'25 teams are loaded with high level talent too. I haven't seen McCabe ranked yet, most sites haven't released a top 100 for 2022 yet.

Sydney Affolter played this [one] season with AIA U17. She will graduate next summer and join AJ (Allison) Ediger and Addison O’Grady at Iowa in 2021.

Top ranked '22 & Addison O'Grady's teammate 6'7 Lauren Betts announces her top 9, no BIG conference schools on her list. Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, UCONN, ND, Louisville, South Carolina, ASU, & Baylor.

So far no link to official media announcement by (or regarding) Taylor McCabe has been posted. This news is still conjecture.

Yes, on Affolter, I was referring to those in the 2022 Class. Affolter is very good and will make an impact at Iowa. Toughness with an advanced skill level. Can shoot it and Attack the rim. Very impressed with her this summer.

Iowa women's basketball: Hawkeyes add another 2022 piece in Nebraska guard Taylor McCabe
DARGAN SOUTHARD | HAWK CENTRAL

The Iowa women's basketball program landed Nebraska guard Taylor McCabe, who committed to the Hawkeyes on Monday morning via Twitter. McCabe is Iowa's third 2022 recruit in the class and the first from outside the state. McCabe, a 5-foot-9 shooting guard out of Fremont High School, had offers from Iowa, Nebraska and Creighton. As a sophomore, she set the Class A single-season record for 3-pointers (107 at 42%) while averaging 20.3 points per game.

Keeps improving and that pace going she’s a top 20 recruit before it’s all said and done.

Amongst all the good news on WBB recruiting for 2021 and 2022 is this cold reality; the fun of "commitment news" is going to be pretty thin for many months! (All filled up for at least a couple years.)
well who are the top instate players for 23

That is true. It is extremely rare Lisa uses all 15 scholarships but they could still add a recruit to the '21-22 & '22-23 classes. It would most likely have to be a top national player or somebody could transfer out too. Here is a link to Raoul's class chart for Iowa, he is a great resource...

There is a post I've been updating on page 22 with the known offers or interest shown by Iowa...
Jenna Hopp - Glenwood, IA (5'10 G) (Drake just offered)
Kaliyah Sain - Cedar Rapids Kennedy (5'10 G)
Ke'Ayla Madison - DSM, Roosevelt (5'5 PG)
Aaliyah Beier - Linn Mar HS, IA (5'6 G)
Jenna Twedt - Benton, IA (5'8 G)
Arianna Jackson - DSM, Roosevelt (5'9 G)
Audi Crooks - Algona Garrigan (6'4 P) (Maryland has offered)
Molly Joyce - Algona Garrigan (5'7 PG)
Molly Noelck - Johnston, IA (5'9 PG)
Sahara Williams - Waterloo, IA (5'11 F) (ISU has offered)

This ship had probably sailed with McCabe committing but Maty Wilke committed to Wisconsin tonight.

If Grace Hall, the last uncommitted ‘21 with an Iowa offer, can show signs of recovering from her ACL injury, perhaps Iowa would have room. Pre-injury, she had the combination of skill and athleticism that is hard to attract to Iowa City.

With Gyamfi & Stuelke on board at Grace's position now, my guess would be a point guard in '22. Perhaps Saniah Tyler, a top 50 player Iowa offered last week & Michigan just did too.

Makes sense. If PG is the potential need for ‘22, would like to see an offer to Amaya Battle.

Does Grace Hall's offer still stand? Isn't it completely up to her to accept it?
