WBB Transfer Portal Targets 2025-2026 (Updated 5/22/25)

So is Jan and company done in the portal this round?
Not sure we know yet. Jan has spoken multiple times about adding someone at the 3/4. The only player that fits that description that Iowa has been linked to is Daley, and we haven't seen much to suggest Iowa has serious interest in her.

Frankly I'm also not seeing a huge need. Feuerbach, Stremlow, and Deal are all rotation players that could play the 3. You can maybe throw Mallegni and Houston in that mix too.

At the 4, Stuelke is likely the starter and Mallegni the backup. Gyamfi is still around. Stremlow or Houston could probably play the position in a pinch.

Bringing in a rotation 3/4 likely means Stremlow or Mallegni don't play much. I think you'd have to find a really good option to make that move.

This is a good get at a position of need but let's not go too overboard. Her numbers are just slightly better than the point guard we just lost.
Her numbers are much better than Guyton's except for 3P shooting.

Turnovers per 30 minutes - Wright 1.2/Guyton 3.1
Field Goal % from 2 range - Wright 44%/Guyton 38%
Field Goal % from 3 range - Wright 32%/Guyton 37%
Free Throw % - Wright 88.6%/Guyton 66.7
Minutes Played - Wright 836/Guyton 475

The 1.2 turnovers per 30 minutes I calculated only against GT's toughest opponents - North Carolina, Oregon, Nebraska, Louisville, Notre Dame, Duke, NCST (twice), FLA ST, and Stanford. In the four games against ND, Duke, and NCST, Wright averaged .9 turnovers per 30 minutes.

Those turnover figures against the best defensive guards in the country are impressive. And, in 53 minutes in GT's games against BIG teams (Oregon & Nebraska), she had zero tornovers.

And, most importantly, screw the stats - Chit Chat wants to be at Iowa.

Wright is an immediate upgrade over Guyton just about any way you slice it. Also, Wright can lead a fast break in ways that Guyton can’t which makes her addition more exciting …..especially with the abilities of Stuelke and Heiden to beat their defenders down the court.

What? No photo of dad in there.😂

Gyamfi is hard to figure out. At times she looks athletic and has a decent perimeter shot but I question her drive and passion. Probably a good teammate in the locker room.

I don’t see her as anything more than a practice or garbage time player. No other reason a player at her age should have been getting beat out by freshmen. With 15 roster spots you do need a couple of those though.

Shes the glue in the locker room. Great person. But ya we'd have to be in some serious foul trouble to see her with meaningful minutes.

I think Mallegni makes some serious strides this offseason. She's a true stretch 4. She can shoot. She looked amazing the 1st half of the season. Then took steps back in the latter half.

This squad looks good as of now. Let's see if they bring anyone else in. I think we're at 13 scholarships now. Im fine with the team as is

I feel like Mallegni’s issue was more mental than anything, and missing so many 3s was affecting her confidence. She played a lot early in the season, and then after the Thanksgiving tournament, where she barely played, she looked sped up, and her shots were long in the game. She seemed tight and that she was pressing. Then, whenever I saw her practice, she was draining 3s.

I hope she was able to go to a sports psychologist or just work through it this off-season because I think she can be really good for us at 3/4 in the next few years. She has the potential. I predict that she will figure that out and be a strong contributor for us this year.

I agree. It is mental for her shot wise. Their were a few reporters that said she's probably the best shooter on the team in warm ups and practice.

That said I remember one game late in the year. She came in for not a long time. But got us like 4-5 rebounds quick. Which was big and I loved her fight

A good shooter once told me, if a good shooter is missing its almost always something mechanical in their shot that is off. I couldn't hit the bank board so maybe it is mental. Either way, bet if she sticks with us, that she figures it out.

Her mechanics are sped up across the board, offense and defense, especially around the rim. She needs to slow down. This happens through increased reps and much weight room work. I am confident she is going to emerge as a real force - all conference type of player - by her senior year.

Was thinking the same thing. I have a feeling she will end up at Illinois sometime down the road. Just my opinion
Agreed. I feel like she’s not going to play at LSU now or in the next two years… at least won’t in the way she wants to. I could def see her at Illinois. Illinois is doing really well right now and in the future. Minutes are going to be tough to get there bec they have some pretty good guards coming in this year as well.
