Said it before, unless the entire team (minus a few) had a foot in the grave. That was a straight up beat down. Michigan did enough to win, scrambled better, finished shots better, countered all hawks ties. It’ll be rinse and repeat next week until there’s some serious changes.

You forgot a selection so im not voting.

-No excuses/Michigan was just better last night

That's my vote
Ok, but that’s falls under the category of a 100-year storm event. Michigan being better than Iowa on a given night has a probability of happening once every 100 years on average. So, you can still vote.

Except that they won the BTT 2 years ago. We were out-coached and out-wrestled last night.

And it's not as uncommon as it used to be.

100 year storm event = Michigan was better last night and we shouldn’t make excuses?

I don't see the correlation.

Well, the 100-year storm concept is just a statistical model, which is never perfect, and probability and outcome are seldom equivalent. And even in real life, storms that qualify as a “100-year storm” are not as uncommon as they used to be.

The forum polls allow for only 10 options. I was not able to squeeze in “climate-change-affected 100-yr storm” as an option. Sorry. 🤷‍♂️

Iowa needs an adjustment technician. Someone that is a stickler for technique and not just brawling. I have thought that Dake would be a great get.

184-nice w
197-mvp again
Hwt- expected

Honestly, both Iowa and PSU looked like they were already thinking about next week and maybe reading too many of their own headlines. Both teams wrestled like just showing up was going to be good enough, and it wasn’t. Penn State got the benefit of two calls that easily could have gone the other way. Their score shouldn’t have been that comfortable looking.

Well, that meet was a real stinkerooni. We didn't wrestle to the level of our talent. Very disappointing.

Having the #1 guy get majored by a nobody doesn't look so good, and when an IOWA team loses two overtime matches to lower-ranked opponents in one dual, it means that they lost heart. And when you can't find your offense, bad things happen. You can't blame these losses on the gambling punishments, or NIL, or politics, or bad reffing, or anything else that's peripheral.

Spot on. The heart was absent, which means the mind ran amuck.

IT TOOK UNTIL THE 2ND PERIOD OF THE 6TH MATCH TO GET A ****ING TD!!!!!
Somebody fix this shit!!!
Can we get a makeover for Spencer so he he looks like Ayala or Schriever/Teske and get him in there?

More seriously, I do think we bounce back and perform better (kind of hard to do worse), even though the outcome may not show it. I think Ayala starts us off with a win and we battle hard thereafter. I was opposed before and it won't likely happen, but I'm now curious to see BK give Kerk a try. I think raw athleticism gives him a chance to at least hang in there and don't think there's much to lose trying.

Wrestling is full of these type of challenges. Some nights you just don’t have it and have to go back to the drawing board, own and self reflect.

Weather it’s reasons or excuses or a combo. I for one think it’s a good dose of humility after wrecking Illinois and NW. does PSu beat us - maybe. Do we have much individual efforts and preparation I believe so.

And whining(crying) like the sky is falling mid season is laughable. We gotta expect our team to get tough and move forward. Maybe that’s good advice for our fan base as well.

Am I the only guy willing to give Real a pass? He missed several matches due to an undisclosed cause (I'll guess illness) and simply didn't look 100% recovered to me. I expect him to give Beau everything he can handle this Friday, and for certain get at least to the semis in March.

I’m thinking the same thing. Prob came back too soon but you never know after an illness. Sergio was game - give him the credit. Doubt he reproduces that against woods though.

125 Michigan strategy: Tie him up, slow him down, don't let him get to his offense, look for scramble situations, hope for a late TD or OT.

125 Iowa strategy: Uh...maybe feel him out for a period or two, kinda see if any opportunities open up, and, I don't know, just kinda see what happens.

This is not the first time, and it's not limited to 125.

Nobody talked about Real Woods still being sick before the match. Maybe he was closer to 100% than people want to believe. Real doesn't need excuses made for him

I'm guessing RW got humbled a bit Friday night against a freshman. And honestly, he needed to be humbled a little bit imo. Maybe he will open it up more early on and respect all his opponents going forward. He has all kinds of untapped talent he just hasn't been using. It's really hard to get your head in the hole, grab a wrist and turn a guy for back points when you can't even get a TD. This has been true much of this year before his "sickness"

Hope you are right.

HEW it happens to most 6 year guys. You rarely see the 5 and 6 year guys get better or even as good as they were. So I do think Real has and ailment. It is called HEW and I don't blame him.

He was off the week before, too.
