We’ve had some crappy teams, but this is the most embarrassing team in the past 30 years!

Mostly MAC level talent and better suited being in a Vineyard Vines commercial than on a basketball court. Pathetic product for a Big Ten program.

It might be the non-conference but DePaul is a power 5 opponent who's ranked 84th in the country so let's just calm down cuz we didn't lose to it Campbell ranked 310

Or take a look at 10th ranked Villanova right now...

Iowa might struggle to try to finish above 8th in the bigten - but DePaul will likely be ranked if not next week, the week following.

They're a better team and they played three more games than Iowa already.

What is it with this trying to make Depaul out to be major contenders? They have beaten no one of significance, including Iowa. Their wins before playing Iowa were over alcorn state, a DIII team and fairleigh dickinson.

They may very well finish the year higher than their predicted last place in the big east, but they have done nothing to indicate they will be at all competitive nationally. They were far more athletic than Iowa, which is an advantage they will not have in most of the rest of their games.

Thinking that Depaul is now somehow a top 25 team is on the same level as thinking this is the worst Iowa team in 30 years. Neither are well grounded in reality.

I thought DePaul was a 50-50 game going into it so the loss wasn't that surprising. Getting completely dismantled in the first 5 minutes with absolutely no response was. My biggest gripe with Fran is that his recruiting nets players (with very few exceptions) who are average / below average athletically for the P5 level.

I understand we aren't Kentucky and aren't going to go 10 deep with 4-5 stars, but he has to have 2-3 guys that are Tyler Cook-level athletes at their respective position. Instead Fran recruits guys who basically are the same athletically so they have these big performances in practice against each other and then the regular season starts and they look completely lost against quicker more athletic opponents. This was clearly the case against DePaul. This is a snippet from Fran talking about JW: "We needed somebody to go score; I'll go do it. It's just hard to do that against a stacked defense with length and athleticism like they had."

Not being critical of Wieskamp or anybody else. Just stating that when these guys don't see the same level of quickness and athleticism in practice, they get served a pretty big dose of reality in games. This was DePaul, not Kentucky, MSU, etc. Paul Reed had offers from Murray State, KSU and DePaul. Why can't Fran and staff go find a couple Paul Reed types either through traditional recruiting or via transfer? He had Tyler Cook and we saw the impact he had on Iowa hoops--just 1 guy.

I think you need to research what a "Power 5" school is. DePaul isn't a school Iowa should have gotten dominated by 20 at home

And with that any credibility you had is now lost. They are 1-1 and lost to a power 5 team by 15. Get a grip...wow

It was men against boys out there all night. Here’s video of Fran keeping the team late in Carver Hawkeye arena to work out the kinks:

That is pretty funny. Going 7 deep with white guys is not a good look. Almost inconceivable even for the Ivy League not to mention the B1G. I have friends who are fans of other B1G teams who have already started with the Hickory Hoosiers texts.

Apparently OP forgot about the team just two seasons ago. Anyone remember that non-conference season? It was filled with games like this.
