we are going to back the office!

what benefits outweigh the risk of creating more avenues for the virus to spread? this is a question my work group can't find a good answer to.

my group of about 30 people will be going back 2 days a week starting 6/15

I never thought this would happen but I’m super excited to get a break from my home office!
I’m headed on the road to prospects and customers next week. First time since first week in March.

Have 22 of about 50 employees back in the office next week. Me included. Can't wait, it's so hard to manage all of these people from home.

social distancing can still take place in the office. Life needs to go on. We have a bunch of new safety measures in place and employee interaction and mental health is very important.

I'm mostly back to the office for the last four weeks now. Those in cubicles are on alternating schedules, those with private offices can work from the office daily. I'm going in 3-4 days a week and it's been great. Everyone is observing social distancing, wearing masks in public areas, and we have a cleaning guy who just walks around sanitizing high touch areas.

It's nice to see people I'm not related to and I feel like we're able to make meaningful decisions more efficiently when we're in the same building.

10 of us out of 20 came back on Monday, including me. It was the first time I wore pants since early March. I miss my home office.

I wonder if my boss will let me bring my beer fridge in to work....

Never? Hyperbole or did you really think this was going to last forever?

Humorous that anyone is talking about social distancing and mitigation after the past week's events.
I have my doubts that anyone who is talking about it had anything to do with the events from the past week. It is humorous that you might lump the two together though.

Been back in the office for a couple weeks now. Small office of +/-10 people. The analyst (which have cubes) were on a rotating schedule. I did play golf yesterday though (with a customer who happens to be a friend first).

I think his point is "what's the point?". The social distancing thing is over after the past week's events. Everybody is in contact. So much for restricting mass gatherings.

I fully expect a full Kinnick Stadium this fall. If not it's hypocritical. After all, the virus doesn't care why we gather.

We're still at least a month away and it sounds like it will be some type of alternating schedule with masks when not at desk and temp check prior to entering the building. I am good with just staying at home and sounds like we'll have that option. Don't miss that 380 drive from NL to CR.

We're starting on June 15th as well but its by choice. If you do want to go in, they're splitting everyone up in two groups. Group 1 can go in (if they choose) one week, then the next week the other group. I can do my job from home and I don't want to go over the bridge so I probably won't go back until closer to August

Congratulations! I long for the day when I will be able to, but it doesn't appear likely within the foreseeable future.

FWIW, all of the regular office staff have been coming into the office each day since this all started. (Nearly all of what we do is considered essential.) We upped the hand sanitizer, wiped down surfaces often, made sure not to sneeze on each other, etc, and no one has contracted the COVID here. A couple of people were tested, negative, due to other contacts/family situations.

Can you walk us through your logic?

It seems like the mass gatherings you and everybody participated in over the past week were bad for social distancing and virus spreading.

Why would that be justification to just stop social distancing all together?

I think there's a kink in your logic, but I might be misunderstanding your post.

Yep, didn’t plan it this way but the last week will prove to be a very good indicator if the virus is still as potent as ever. If numbers keep trending down that bodes well for a return to normal much quicker than anticipated.

In a similar vein...has there been any more info on the Missouri hair stylists that were blasted about 2 weeks ago for exposing and potentially exposing 140 clients? Google does not reveal any updates for the past 4 or 5 days...when at that time still no one had tested positive from the exposure. Hmmm...maybe we didn't need to close the hair salons after all?

Assuming i have my first appointment with a customer next tuesday i will have made it 107 days with no pants.
My goal was 120.
Another dream shattered.

There's a strip club down the street from my retail business called The Office. I may or may not have been there before.

And yeah I know CSB

So most of the country shut down mid-March. After a month of people being stuck at home not going to work, social distancing, etc, we were at 650,000 cases on April 15th. That's after a month of trying to shut something down that should stop 14 days after people are not circulating. Since April 15th we've had 1.2 million additional cases while people are "not circulating", but stuck at home where it's easier to pass it along to those you are stuck at home with.

I work for a large employer in Des Moines. The company will re-evaluate at the end of June to determine when employees will start returning to work. In a company of 260,000 ... I definitely appreciate the approach it is taking to ensure we don't all rush into work on a set day. I anticipate we will rotate in waves ... I'm enjoying working remote ... I have a great office set up ... I always used to dress up for work ... I enjoy my casual attire now...

We just received an email from work saying the earliest we will be back in the office is going to be September 30th.

I just had to tally up my no pants streak after reading this, I'm on day 81 and still going strong.
