Not a surprise ... but Chauncey is getting some 1st team reps.
Any projections on the DT depth chart vs NIU?
I've been wondering whether Brincks has only been getting pass-rushing DT reps ... or if he's been getting early down reps too.Starters - Nelson, Chauncey
Reserves - Jansen, Linderbaum, Schulte
Pass down DT’s - Brincks, Hesse
Some serious horses inside when Lattimore and Reiff come back.
Really nice to have this level of talent and depth when you’re breaking in new linebackers. Should help them run free a lot. I don’t foresee many teams running power and inside zone successfully against the hawks.
Can the season start, please and thank you

That is a great shot. I think it would be a no, but photographer Brian Ray would be the one to ask for sure.Blair, is there a way to buy one of these pictures? The photo of Coach Ferentz standing behind the offense before the snap is great.
Brincks is pretty much all DT now, I think, and might be a starter week one. Reese Morgan told me at media day his starters would be Matt Nelson and Sam Brincks for week one if he had to make a lineup right at that moment. Golston might be more of a situational DT, but I bet we see him there a lot week one given the suspensions to Reiff and Lattimore. Jansen will be in the mix too. Schulte working at DT as well.I've been wondering whether Brincks has only been getting pass-rushing DT reps ... or if he's been getting early down reps too.
Any word on how Schulte is doing?
Given that Jansen has been a stalwart on special teams and had worked his way into being a pass down DT ... I'd figure that he'd at least be a 2nd team for the NIU game. Also, given all the praise that Linderbaum has earned and given how well he can play with leverage (all the while still having really nice explosiveness) ... I figure he'd round out the 2-deeps.
I Thought Phil Parker mentioned that Golston is more of an End right now who can play inside. He is listed at DT, but I think actual game reps will come more at DE.Starters - Nelson, Chauncey

Thanks Blair. That was my guess - the way the coaches had been speaking about Brincks, they're making it sound like he's really coming into his own .... and the context seemed to be concerning his work at DT.Brincks is pretty much all DT now, I think, and might be a starter week one. I think we'll see Golston slide down to DT in pass rushing situations throughout the season. That front four of Epenesa, Golston, Hesse & A. Nelson they showed us will be fun to watch on 3rd and long. Also can see him playing some DT in spots in the opener given the lack of depth, but in general still more of a DE who can play inside if needed, I'd agree.I Thought Phil Parker mentioned that Golston is more of an End right now who can play inside. He's in a bit of an athletic stance there so he looks shorter than he is, but he is not the same size as Binns thats for sure.Man, Derrick Foster is a little dude.
