Bruce Feldman from The Athletic
Former Hawkeye came in on the list.
5. Jay Norvell, Nevada: The former Iowa Hawkeyes player has done outstanding work developing QB Carson Strong into a top NFL prospect. More than that, Norvell has very good job with the Wolf Pack, at a program with all sorts of challenges and resource issues in the Mountain West. He’s 22-13 the past three years. Norvell is smart and solid and substantive. Those qualities might make a lot of sense if there are vacancies this winter at ASU and Washington State — places in the midst of a lot of turbulence.

Head coaches to watch
1. Matt Campbell, Iowa State: The other day we made the case for what he’s built in Ames as a legit Playoff contender coming off Iowa State’s best season, finishing No. 9 in 2020. This should be a huge year for Campbell and Iowa State. Now, the part Cyclone fans won’t like: The NFL is going to keep calling, and if Michigan or USC come open, Campbell will likely be one of the first, if not only, calls made — and with the Big 12 getting squeezed with the impending exits of Oklahoma and Texas, it’s not a stretch to think he will be more tempted to leave this time around.Former Hawkeye came in on the list.
