Kent State is 1-1 having lost at Texas A&M (2-0) in Week 1.

Iowa is 2-0 in this series, as KF's 2004 team won 39-7 and 2001 team won 51-0. Both in Iowa City and Iowa covered each game. Iowa is 24-4 vs. MAC teams.

The Golden Flashes head coach Sean Lewis is in his 4th season in Kent, Ohio. Youngest HC in College Football. Spent 6 years as co-OC at Syracuse, Bowling Green and Eastern Illinois, 2 seasons at each school.

His OC Andrew Sowder came from San Jose State as OC as Lewis arrived at Kent. He was with Lewis at BG & EIU, coaching WRs.

Fourth year DC Tim Kauffman was DC at Chattanooga in 2017. He was with Lewis at all three other stops!

Kent State, like Iowa, won their 2019 bowl game, beating Utah State to close out the season 7-6.

2019 - Week 3 at Auburn, L 55-16
2018 - Week 3 at Penn State, L 63-10
2018 - Week 1 at Illinois, L 31-24

Pick 6 was lone TD against Iowa in the series late. Kirk Ferentz shared each of their starting CBs have 3 interceptions after two games.

Halftime score for Kent State was a 10-3 deficit against Texas A&M in Week 1. The Aggies had 275 yards against the Golden Flashes in the first half, but only 10 points.

Kent State will use two QBs.

As Kirk shared, be aware of the ball Hawks on defense, the QBs and the Golden Flashes as they come to Kinnick for the third time in series history.

Play a 3 man defensive front with a Jack LB and a Nickel Back, so Iowa will see a third style of defenses in three weeks.

All-Mac QB, solid junior LT Bill Kudock, as Phil Steele ranked their QB and OL tops in the MAC. Secondary is strength of their defense.

PFF did have Iowa a preseason #9 in the ELO ratings and they are looking good now.

They may have Iowa's LBs performances highly scored, but I do think they have liked Iowa's potential on defense, especially the secondary.
