Curious about how everyone grades the Iowa pass rush.

The last couple of weeks there were many people bitching, moaning, groaning and of course without knowin'

Anything(?) about defense and the difference between spread offense, hurry up and protections.

This is my personal opinion. The IOWA D-line rush is more than fine.

Go HAWKS... EIGHT (8) deep.

The D-line was awesome. They brought plenty of pressure. I just wish Parker would have sent the house on that last play.

Or had AJ in on the last play.

They subbed 2 or 3 guys out on a somewhat long PSU play near the red zone. Don't remember the exact play. The Hawks needed a timeout in their backpocket that they wasted on an obvious 2 pt conversion attempt.

He obviously should have been in when PSU called timeout. His biggest weakness is run defense which is obviously not going to happen on 4th down.

i don't agree with your last statement, why not run it on 4th and goal? it was going to be the last play of the game whether you run it or pass it. they could have run any play in their goal line book. while i think the pass is more likely, i don't think it qualifies as obvious.

btw i think they should have sold out on a blitz as well

Personally, I would have loved to see AJ, Hesse, Brinks, and Nelson in there with Jewel coming on a MLB blitz. My thought was just get McSorley back pedaling on the throw

They sent 6 guys on that final play.... 5 others to cover 4 wrs. PSU made the play.

Yeah, I thought they sent too many. 6 guys on the line, all rush. Another guy or two drops back in the endzone, that throw isn't there.

But then they probably get it the Barkley in space, and that probably wouldn't goto well, either.

Id rather it be short of the goal line and have him work for it than into the endzone. Maybe splitting hairs.

Edit: i also feel like that last drive was time to really go for broke and take some chances on D. If they get burned alteast the offense has some time to that FG.
