After 10 matches at the Sports Pavilion on Friday night, there was no clear winner between No. 20 Minnesota and Indiana. The Gophers and the Hoosiers were tied at 18 after splitting five matches, the latter serving as the first tiebreaker when duals end with the two teams even on the scoreboard. It would take two additional tiebreakers to declare a winner, with Indiana's 55 points scored in decisions, major decisions and tech falls edging Minnesota's 52 and earning Indiana the criteria point and the victory, 19-18.

In other news..............

Six armed Aliens were seen lurking around Dance Class in Iowa City lately.

Nice win by Gravina. Considering that Brooks was sick and Gravina appears to be wrestling pretty darn well, that match looks a little different now.

Where was it confirmed that Brooks was ill? If so, that explains the lackluster but gutsy performance.

Multiple posters with ties to the program have mentioned it on this board. You can find it in a thread about the meet if you look, I'm sure. There hasn't been any confirmation from Coach Brands or anyone else in the program, but it does seem quite plausible to me.

gablefan73 said it and then recanted a couple of posts later. He was just trying to make a point about us posters not really knowing what might be going on with the wrestlers.

In other words.....he made up a lie and posted it as true while trying to make some silly point. Not cool. Some people read it and think it's true when he just made it up.

I have no idea if Brooks was sick or not, but I do know he was excused from a couple practices last week.

I think he only recanted that he had been up all night. Could be wrong though.

I took it the same way you did, MVP. Pretty sure gablefan73 said he was sick and throwing up all night, Spoons agreed that he'd been sick, and gablefan73 recanted the up-all-night part. Maybe those guys can clarify.

Gobblin knows what's up and that Sammy was out of practice earlier this week, which would at least indicate that he probably wasn't 100% last night.

Whatever the case, Gravina was pretty impressive and performed well against NE, while Brooks didn't look 100% and there seems to be pretty good reason for that. I'm optimistic that Sammy will pick up his game as the season wears on and that he'll be a threat to win the whole enchilada in March.

Ouch -- rough outing for the Badgers. Even Jordan barely squeaked by against a guy who was apparently unranked.

Here's an interesting one:

No. 8 Missouri 26, No. 3 Ohio State 17
at Columbia, Mo., December 12

285 - Nick Tavanello (Ohio State) pin James Romero (Missouri)
125 - Nathan Tomasello (Ohio State) maj. dec. Barlow McGhee (Missouri), 10-1
133 - Zach Synon (Missouri) pin Johnni DiJulius (Ohio State)
141 - Matt Manley (Missouri) dec. Micah Jordan (Ohio State), 4-3
149 - Lavion Mayes (Missouri) maj. dec. Cody Burcher (Ohio State), 12-3
157 - Jake Ryan (Ohio State) maj. dec. Luke Fortuna (Missouri), 10-2
165 - Bo Jordan (Ohio State) dec. Daniel Lewis (Missouri), 6-4
174 - Blaise Butler (Missouri) maj. dec. Dominic Prezzia (Ohio State), 13-3
184 - Willie Miklus (Missouri) tech. fall Kenny Courts (Ohio State), 15-0
197 - J'Den Cox (Missouri) maj. dec. Mark Martin (Ohio State), 11-2

Of note:

133: DiJulius gets stuck.
141: Micah Jordan loses a close one.
149: Mayes seems to be in good form.
165: BoJo in a close one over Lewis, who I think is pretty impressive.
174: Blaise Butler making his presence known after transferring in from UVA.
184: What the heck? Miklus flat-out dominates Courts. Curious to know exactly how that match played out, because I don't think Miklus is that much better than Courts.
197: Cox is very tough, but that lopsided score makes me suspect that Martin may find the massive bump up in weight class to be a tough transition.

Looks like Mizzou is going to be a Dual juggernaut again! They've got a pretty salty lineup here and there.

Miklus is pretty good, but 15-0?

Why has no one talked about ISU? They won again. And a couple things remained the same... Meeks lost another close match and Weatherman almost blew yet another match,
The conditioning of the ISU wrestlers appears to be horrendous. WTH do they do in that room that makes that happen? If all matches were four minutes long... they might have 4-5 NCAA champs. What a mess in Ames.

Courts was absolutely awful and acted like he didn't want to be on the mat. He took maybe one shot the entire bout and spent the rest on the time backing up. I think he gave up 2 stalling points, once when Miklus was crawling on his knees after Courts.

Overall, a rather embarrassing performance.

Penn State squeeked by Wisconsin.
.Of note: No Gulibon, but Moss wins at 141. Morelli at 165 instead of Rasheed ( transfer from Pitt, beat Rasheed in the open last week) jordon need a TD with 1 sec left to win. 174 guy at 285 for Penn State.

PSU v. Wisc. - "Attendance: 12,862." Explanation? Doesn't make sense.

Did Ryan Taylor get hurt in the match against Pitt? Re-injured? I haven't been following him, but notice that Flo doesn't have him ranked due to inactivity. Was Pitt his first match back after a layoff?

The match was at Bryce Jordan Center which if sold out is about 16000 capacity. We have two matches at Bryce Jordan this year, the next one is Ohio State on February 5th which is sold out.

Good question. Taylor lost to Forys of Pitt 10-6 on Saturday. It was his 1st bout of the year after he was pulled the week before (planned return). All signs point that he was not ready to return, and they pulled him from Sunday's dual for precautionary reasons. Have not seen publicly any word on a re-injury.

I'd have to think Isaac transfers next year. I know he will be graduating soon which leaves him open for a graduate transfer. If he does, Ohio State would look all the more dangerous
