I will say his agents are strong, Spurs have to pay Joe first year of his deal (about $2.1MM). He would be a good 2 way candidate or play in the G League full time to get his shot back playing a lot of minutes. He has to hit 40% plus to have any chance of a roster spot.

i knew the 2 year, $4M plus deal that he signed before training camp was not fully guaranteed unless he made the 15 man Spurs roster.

I did not know that he would get $2.1M even if he did not make the roster.

First year was guaranteed per this article... (this is not intended as a GOTCHA, just interesting as I was surprised as well, good for Joe if true)

Happy for Joe. But still skeptical.
The Spurs have money to burn. They are about $15 million under the team minimum salary threshold which is 90% of the salary cap. If they don't use that space in trades, etc, they must distribute the remainder to their players at the end of the year. I think Joe's contract was to be used as filler in a trade this offseason but instead the market dried up due to the Gobert trade.

+article discussing G League draft also mentioned he is still getting paid his $2MM. At this point... its a fact. ###
