Well first off, I think you’re half wrong on this.
I was a Republican for many years, and I lived in Greenwich CT. I know exactly what happened during that election because I campaigned for the man.
I agree that Perot cost him the election.

His whole game was and is trying to be a blue blood, and he’s nowhere close he’s the son and grandson of immigrants, lacking education and every sense of decorum.

In my world, decorum and diplomacy were important, as well as respect, kindness and compassion.
Trump has absolutely no understanding of that. And he goes after all the WASPs that were better than he and didn’t accept him.

WHAT?! The tax code should not be a method to reward or punish various behaviors. It should be a method to equitably share the cost of government among the taxpayers. FULL STOP!

I agree. All that crap should be gone. If you make X you pay Y. And EVERYONE should pay SOMETHING, even if it's only one symbolic dollar.
Well, when governments try to encourage new building/investments in their country/state/city, tax incentives are one of the biggest weapons available to them.

If Trump doesn’t push it, it’ll never pass the House. He’s not going to push it. So he gets the benefit of saying he supports it without any real risk he’ll have to sign it into law.
Even if he pushes it I don't think the votes are there. The math simply doesn't work.
I am not against an increase to the highest tax bracket. It’s not the only thing that needs to happen, but I believe in progressive taxation as the best approach to funding the government.
It won’t even come up for a vote unless Trump pressures Mike Johnson.
Not really sure what the difference is. They let Company A out of paying taxes and/or provide exemptions to the tax code, otherwise known as “incentives”.
Just write a check to the company that wants to bring a sports team or a factory to town. Don't change how the taxes work.

This is where I think we will land. Get everyone to agree that everyone should pay something, which is code for raising working class taxes, and then give rich people infinite outs to make sure they somehow pay less.
Bullshit. You are naive if you believe that. We allow deductibility for charitable donations, deductions for taxes paid, several related to home ownership/financing and the like..all things that we as a society feel are positives for a better quality of life in America. Overall, taxes are used to pay the bills, no doubt…but pay the bills with a proviso for a better quality of life.
