The gal plucking the washtub bass, Sierra Ferrell, is now a legitimate rising star in county music. She recently played Red Rocks and the Grand Ole Opry as well as winning an award at the Ameripolitans.

Who will be next to jump from the streets to national acclaim?

I agree. There’s been tons of buskers a lot better imo, but it’s great to see her success anyway. Hopping trains and traveling America playing music is a cool way to end up at the Grand Ole Opry.

Here she is in a more recent clip playing Red Rocks. Before Sierra, there was kind of a ceiling on success for buskers. Pokey LaFarge has done ok but nothing like what Sierra has achieved.

I guess the only saving grace is playing on the street in New Orleans is probably the only place in America where the actual street smells worse than that collection of greasy hippies.
