What a bummer of a season

It seems Iowa can never live up to what people expect but when they don’t expect big things is when they shine. Next year I am sure they will be rated to finish in the lower half of the BIG abut this is where I like it, low expectations no pressure, then Iowa seems to shine and play great football. Will see what happens as it’s a long way off but they have the pieces to be a pretty good team and maybe a sneaky team. They need better athletes in the defense backfield and more explosive wise receivers, however I really like the RB room as well. If they can get better pass protection on the line I think they will be alright.

It sure sucks they lost in the way they did but they’ve been doing it all year long. If you were to tell me they would finish 8-5 last year I would of said you’re nuts as most had us at 11-2 or 10-3 but they’ve been doing weren’t that close. Let’s hope for some more better play and better luck next year as I think we have the pieces to be a pretty good team. Still a season that “could of been” but shit happens…

No. We don’t have the pieces for 2025 to be anything of significance.

The stars aligned for the Hawks to have a really good season but it just didn't pan out. Cade was ineffective. The defense was a shadow of last year. An experienced OL looked good at times but inconsistent. Even a great RB couldn't save this team from a disappointing season.

I can't explain yesterday, except to say the MO and their QB are darned good. The offense showed some spark, but the defense looked lost all day.

Given player attrition going into next year it's hard to be optimistic. Uncertainty all over the field.

Expect the worst, hope for the best I guess.

Cook will make a good living being a QB2 in the league, If Iowa has a healthy Cook they win 10 Games this Year, QB play was the difference in that Game, both defenses were bad , Iowa scores 24 You need to win that Game . Phil will be the first to say that. Iowas secondary was bad , real bad this Year that and QB play were Iowa's downfall this Year

Fans expect a national championship team every year. I don't know if Iowa under Kirk or under a different coach can meet the fans expectations. Not being on the team, I don't know what their expectations are except play to win every game. They are the ones that except the reality of winning and losing. Fans can only hope for a better next year. Everything else you said I pretty much agree with

I thought Cook was the 1 guy that really hurt Iowa yesterday. Will he be a # 2 QB in the NFL?. Hard to say. I didn't think Purdy was a very good QB and look how he's done for Frisco.

Missouri fans expect Cook to be an UDFA and possible practice squad guy. We should know by now that a college QB doesn’t have to be the next Roger Staubach to have a monster game against us.

If Phil had dialed up some well-timed blitzes, Cook wouldn't have looked like a first-round draft choice. Not blitzing is what beat Iowa. Michigan blitzed the hell out of Alabama's Milroe today, and that won them the game. Simple as that.

Staubach is actually before my time, also (but not much), but I’ve always considered him to be the absolute perfect QB, and he was an even better human being who served our country in the Navy. There will never be another like him. BTW - this is coming from someone who hates the Cowboys.

So here’s the thing. Were we even a preseason top 25 team? If so we were fringe. Not sure what some of you are/were expecting. Easy schedule gave us some hope but to act like we were expected to compete for the playoffs was expected by nobody except maybe our fanboys. Also as long as Kirk doesn’t value the QB position this is what you get. Yesterday would have been a nice win over a top 20 team but we couldn’t finish because of multiple reasons.
