What a fun team to watch

I agree....We should have beaten the Illini, but give them credit...they shot incredible from 3 AND made shots when they had to. We will get going here real soon. It was clear that Kegan was not normal tonight.

If we want to really make an impact -- we have got to play the right players that will give us the best chance to win. We are not going to outscore good teams. Good coaches know, that in order to reach championship level play, you must play defense and rebound (and yes, defense begins with rebounding). If you do those two things very well, the offense will take care of itself. Iowa is fun to watch when they get after people defensively -- when they do that, they score easily in transition. Teams do not like to be pressured -- in the past two games we forced numerous turnovers by Purdue and Illinois. When was the last time you watched an good Big Ten Team not be able to get the ball past half court one time, let alone at least three or four times that I recall. The future with this team is JoeT, Ulis, Perkins, the Murray Twins and PMac -- let JoshO and Rebecca share time along with JBo and Sandfort.

Sandfort is going to be a heck of a player. You can tell that, shooting aside, he takes his defensive responsibilities really seriously. His block on that jumper in the first half was a hell of a defensive play, and he hasn’t gotten blown by nearly as much as one might expect for a 6’7 freshman

Payton has played pretty good defense when on someone near his size. Hustles his butt off. Grabs some boards, blocks some shots drains threes and has a nice inside offensive game. Bright future.

Agree.

That game could have been a blowout, but they kept hanging in there despite getting killed on the boards. Then Keegan has that late game offensive run and illanoy couldn't put it safely away until the last minute.

No doubt they're going to lose plenty more games. But they'll be in contention much of the time.

Sandfort losing minutes to CM and JO playing just 2 minutes when we are getting pounded on the boards is on Fran. I would argue that Joe T. should have been on the court with Uhlis, Perkins and both Murray’s for the last 4-5 minutes. Maybe your five best defensive players with still enough offensive fire power to get the job done. Plus all five those players play well in the open court.

Agreed

That furious 21 point run that was fueled by the defense and the Perkins in the first half was the most enjoyable few minutes of Hawkeye basketball since Luka dropped a half-million on ISU last season.

Go Hawks! Win or lose this team will have it's moments. Nepotism could be the limiting factor of this team's future I'm afraid
