What a weird f**kng season...

Pound two of our biggest rivals and Maryland, give away games to Iowa State and UCLA, don't even show up against MSU, have players checkout before the end of the season .. what a roller coaster 7-4 record.

See, that is EXACTLY the attitude to take. It is weird, I mean holy shit, go look at the pres son top 25. And these seasons keep getting weirder and weirder.

How about Iowa State…ratted out a win against us, then seemed to get better and better and better honestly… Then lost to a very pedestrian Houston and sub 500 Kansas….

Hell as far as that goes, let’s look at Kansas. That’s a pretty talented team and they’ve played a murderous schedule and they’re going to end 500 at best….

It doesn’t improve anybody’s life by constantly bitching about the coaching staff. It’s hard to win

FIFY

MSU blew Iowa up. ISU and UCLA games were winnable.
welp.... that's football

Couldn’t you say that about most teams? Hell Nebraska should have beat Illinois-9.5 UCLA -7.5 and USC, what R u going to do?
UCLA played one of the toughest schedules in the country, if not the toughest, definitely the toughest for a power conf program. USC played LSU, PSU, and Michigan, and still play playoff contender Notre Dame. Iowas schedule is hilariously bad compared to what these teams had.

Iowa had it there for the taking and chose to F around with a really bad QB and it cost them a shot at real success. All their rivals were down and they only had to play 1 powerhouse team. They will go 7-5 or 8-4.

USC could finish 7-5 too, just like Iowa

Sorry Phil USc lost to Washington who we smoked, Maryland who we smoked & Minne who we smoked…

UCLA also lost to Washington & Minne..,

I’m glad you engaged with me, you also are extremely bland & poor at this “dig” game…

I mean this was one of your poorer efforts and you’re never particularly witty.

What “dig” effort are you talking about? You seem very drunk given your posting pattern today. I posted a bunch of facts. Do you think Iowa would be 7-4 against UCLAs schedule? They likely start out 1-4 with 4 games against heavy hitters. Iowa would be lucky to field a .500 team against that slate after getting mauled by powerhouse teams for the first month.

You’re also confusing me with someone else. I’ve never engaged you on here, probably the husker from last year, I stole his name by putting a period after the r and I’ve been waiting for him to come back.

Don’t care…it’s speculation. All I know is they got beat by 2 teams we smoked. And I drink very rarely and never at home…that “schedule” thing always works itself out. I’d like Iowa's chances at home vs most anyone.

And he’ll I just realized they are 4-6 w/losses to 2 teams we beat…

I have to tell you, you are just as slow as the last Phil…

And the crazy thing is, last year was by far more crazy. After seeing the OSU vs Indiana game I’m firmly in the camp that there needs to be way more control on how players are paid and some kind of salary cap. Who TF wants to watch the same 5 teams play for a natty every year? Iowa football used to be an event for me, now I have it on in the background while I’m doing other shit.

I guarantee that the coaching differences arent that great.

Give every team 10M a year to spend as a salary cap, paid by the schools, no outside money directly and see where it goes. No limit on money per player. Spend it like as you wish. Certainly would even the playing field in my opinion. Hell it could maybe even be higher as the big schools are bringing in revenue of around 200M per year. Maybe even have a player minimum. You make the roster you make 10k plus scholarship, training table, room and board or something to the effect.

This then becomes a contract. Leave or sit early for non medical or family emergency reasons, you dont get paid for that game. You sit out a bowl game, you dont get paid. Or make contracts like any other job. If the player wants to negotiate that he can sit a bowl game if he is entering the draft following the season let him do so.

I think the NIL experiment has been an abject failure. The players deserve to be paid. But it has to be a level playing field IMO.

You called people out for predicting 8-4

Kirk does not do well with expectations because he doesn’t know how to coach aggressively when favored.

His best years, outside of 2002, have come when there’s really odd things occurring

2004 - losing all RBs and Tate being a hero
2009 - Stanzi pick 6 every other game, defense and special teams bailing out of games
2015 - CJB to the rescue

2005
2010
2016
2024

All complete let downs cause there wasn’t the lucky bounce

Iowa was only down 5 with the ball in the 4th against MSU.
Can’t explain other than you are

That’s how not good MSU is this year.
Same for UCLA. But Iowa was so woefully inconsistent this year. That’s what separates good teams from OK teams. Yes, an unfortunate, unexpected, weird season. Nevertheless, win this week. It’s so much better than losing. Go Hawks!!

Y’all must’ve forgot what the O looked like the last few years. Yes disappointing season but more hope than before for next year.

Concurred. At least our offense wasn't atrocious this year. I definitely remember the past three years and that shit sucked! I rather like what Lester is trying to do. This is a positive.

Still, yes, very disappointed with the outcome this season. We're better than 7-4 IMO but we are what our record says we are in the end.

Yep. One of the weirdest seasons I can recall.
