Just curious, what defensive adjustments did Mizzou make at half that slowed Iowa down?
Studied tapes of Kirk's tendencies in losses. Knew they had us then.Just curious, what defensive adjustments did Mizzou make at half that slowed Iowa down?
Knowing we had a small lead, they put themselves in “Defense against Ferentz Pussyball” mode, and had us right where they wanted us for their predictable comeback.Just curious, what defensive adjustments did Mizzou make at half that slowed Iowa down?

They shut down the edges and pressured the QB. We had no answer because we had a transfer from NW as our go to guy.Just curious, what defensive adjustments did Mizzou make at half that slowed Iowa down?
Agree! They shut down the edges and did not allow Sullivan to run to the outside which seems to be one of our best plays. That should have allowed us more room to run inside. They shut down the edges and pressured the QB. We had no answer because we had a transfer from NW as our go to guy.
I don't know why college doesn't offer this option like the NFL does.Hard to say without all 22 cut ups.
Not really knowing what all they did in the secondary, this is probably about the best take we could offer. They shut down the edges and pressured the QB. We had no answer because we had a transfer from NW as our go to guy.
Bootleg and QB scramble are not the same thingThey took away our number 1 play of the bootleg with the quarterback scrambling and throwing to a tight end or running. They always had someone there in his face with speed who could run Sullivan down.
Moulton averaged 7 and Jaz 8 yards per carry. Not really knowing what all they did in the secondary, this is probably about the best take we could offer.
They did a better job of forcing Iowa to run within a box and not allowing Sullivan to scramble free outside the pocket. They always had someone ready, especially on the weakside, to chase him down.
I won't give all the kudos to Missouri though, because some of our run play designs in the 2nd half were set to run right into that f***ing box/pile of bodies, AND our RBs kept choosing to run straight ahead into said pile of bodies instead of being patient enough to recognize the open cutback lanes, which were f***ing in fact there in the 2nd half.
But that's also hard to tell if that's entirely on the RBs or some of it is on our gutless, conservative coaching staff (Kirk)..........................just sayin.
I'd say you could pull the 22 cut ups from about every game the last 20 years and you'd be good...Hard to say without all 22 cut ups.
And I forgot the Vikes played last night...sheesh...Kind of forgot Iowa had a bowl game.
