Completely normal winter in CR. Roads are wet or patches of snow. We didn’t get ice.

I live in northern Cedar Rapids, and we did get ice. Not something I want to see kids walking in, or 1,500 high school kids trying to drive in.

Our deck had some sleet on it, no problem. Got to the bottom of the deck and it was glaze ice. Hit the ground hard, nothing broken.

The roads are a sheet of ice. I did a 180 going 10 miles an hour earlier this morning trying to take the no pic wife to a doctor appointment. We canceled the appointment.

My almost 92 year old uncle who has been walking 6 miles a day, every day, for the last 47 years told me about how one time many years ago, he slipped on an icy sidewalk and fell backwards. This is in the distant QC suburbs. He ordered a pair of metal spikes to put over his shoes from a company called Vermont Country Store. He never fell in the ice again. /csb
