What do you expect today?

Eternal Return

I'm curious about what a successful game by the Hawkeyes today looks like to the posters on this board. In other words, is it just win no matter how good or bad Iowa plays? Is it quality play whether Iowa wins or loses? Something else? Specific aspects of the game, like offensive line play or pass defense? Specific players like Hankins or Bower or Wirfs or ISM? I'm just curious.

I don't know what to expect, but I'm looking for passion across the board, competency in special teams, self-confidence in the young guys, tempo on offense (mixing it up throughout the game, being less predictable), eliminating drops on catchable passes, offensive line playing better against blitzes and pressure, play calling that punishes Nebraska when they put 9 or 10 in the box, Iowa mixing up pass defense to confuse the Huskers (including blitzing at times, especially at times when Nebraska least expects it--which for Iowa would mean almost any time in the game), and more, really, but that gives you a sense of what I'm looking for. To me, those are more important than winning the game and yet doing those things well should win the game, possibly even by blowout unless Nebraska really steps up their play, too.

So what are you looking for or hoping for today? By the way, I'm presenting this as a way to get away from the Fire Ferentz v. Keep Ferentz debate. At least this is related to the specifics of the game today. Cheers.

I expect:
1) Trying to run with 8 in the box with little success
2) Audibles only into a run
3) Run plays on 2nd and 10
4) Linebackers covering wide receivers on obvious passing downs
5) Dropped passes
6) 20 yard punts
7) Zero punt return yards because we have a slow white guy returning punts that couldn’t make my mom miss.
8) Safeties letting receivers consistently get behind them.
9) Qb sneak on 3rd and 20

In other words, the same old crap.

Just win baby

I expect to be bored to tears by halftime. Then after the game, I expect KF to talk about how Nebraska is an excellent team and very well coached.

Ironically, he'll be complimenting Nebraska's coach as Riley's getting his walking papers, win or lose. Kirk should add, "If Riley has a flaw at all it's that he didn't have an agent who could persuade Nebraska's AD to sign a contract with an impossible buyout clause."

KF to stick w/ the vanilla offense we saw last week - allowing NE to hang around all day - Maybe give Riley a "W" for his swan song in Lincoln - You know, because he is one of the "good guys".......

Coin toss and what resulting coaching decisions are made from that coin toss could dictate the games final outcome.

IMHO.

No idea what will happen. I’m hoping Iowa’s offensive game plan is somewhere along the lines as to what is was against Ohio State.

The defense will spend 2/3 of first half on the field, with no offensive adjustments at the half. Lots of first down runs up the gut. A pic 6 from 15. Lose by 7, with postgame comments “we just need to clean some things up”.

I expect my xmas lights to be put up by the end of the first half. I have had a good week of practice, so I have no expectations beyond that.
