We probably could use him for a few minutes, a few fouls tonight against Dickinson.
If Filip picks up 2 in the first 10 minutes, Riley may see the floor and that could be ugly.

Josh has a knee injury I believe,.. not sure when he will be available.

This is definitely one of those games where he brings value. Too bad he's out.

Don't watch a ton of basketball but when I have time I try.

Watched a game a couple weeks ago or so and I'm floored this kid has a scholarship.

Most unathletic dude I've ever seen. Looked terrible.

I think he is effective against he huge bigs.
Yes, he has had a few good minutes. Josh can be that "immoveable force" that those "huge bigs" have to work harder to back down while their back is to the basket.
Josh needs those situations to be an impact contributor. Oh, and not a bad passer.

Riley is going to have to put in some minutes,.. I'll keep my fingers crossed that he does alright.

Hate to judge a book by a cover but he just doesn’t have that look of a guy that wants to win. He just has that look of a guy that’s happy he’s on the floor. Garza had that look. The fighter instinct , tenacity, win at all cost. You have to have that at this level. He doesn’t. Idk maybe he just needs a haircut.

You obviously aren't old enough to remember Les Jepson. Seven footer form Bowbells, North Dakota who hardly played for his first three years. He had a good senior season and ended up playing in the NBA. Bigs take longer to develop. I think Riley has an upside.

I think he is struggling with weight and other physical issues and that has hampered how good he could be.

Zone defense early and hope they are not hot from outside......but some minutes without fouling inside.

Les Jepson would run circles around this kid.

Yeah he just didn't have "it".

Not a basketball expert, not even close to one, but obviously he does or did something right to gain a schollie.

Hoping for the best of course.

He played decent in the few mintues vs iu. Drew a foul, didnt really fvck up. He looked horrible in garbage time in the non con.

Rebraca also has that look this season.

It really is a shame Rebraca is only 6'9". If he were 3 inches taller, he would be a borderline All-American in Fran's system. If you could put Rebraca in Josh Ogundele's body you would have an absolutely monster (assuming he would be in-shape).

The only side he has to go

Riley looked better in the 1-2 min against IU than he has in prior games, when he looked totally lost. Comments that he cannot run are wrong, but he seems to lack confidence and is way too passive. We might find out a little more tonight, but I hope it is a small sample.

I personally think if he hits that three last year in the big ten tourney against Indiana we are all looking at a completely different player. That was a huge spot for him to take a shot and he looked confident doing so. I don't think you can infer too much from this season.

I Know in the past I've been critical of Riley not getting any playing time and maybe blaming him way too much. Really, with as little time we've seen him getting playing time, it's not fair to cross him off geting meaningful minutes in a Hawkeye uniform with the 2 full years he has left.
We've seen this before when Fran keeps potential players on the bench so older players can get more playing time and increase their stats. You can go from year to year and see examples of this. Ulis, Perkins, the Murray brothers, to name a few in recent years.
I really think you're going to see a completely different player in Riley next year and maybe even starting along side Patrick, Dembele,and/or Freeman, or someone else.
We've seen him in so little action that it's ridiculous to form an opinion whether or not he will turn out to be worthy of the scholarship. I think next year, we're all going to glad Fran brought him on board.

I sure hope you’re right! Anybody saying he isn’t athletic is just wrong. He does look kind of goofy on the floor, but i remember his mom posting videos of him doing 360’s and some other pretty impressive dunks while in high school. I’ll agree he seems to play too passive while on the floor and needs to get a mean streak to him/gain some confidence

Riley with some contributions to the win tonight.
