He determined Elon was this enemy and did everything he could to pump up his competition. Famously talked about them in a SOTU as EV leaders while ignoring the one that got them there.

The big and obvious criticism here is purposefully trying to pump up the stock/sales of a government employee (Elon) on the Trump team. Using the white house and its administration for a personal gain in a very public way.

On a side note, I randomly met Bill back in 2006 in Universal Plaza in Manhattan and talked with him for a couple minutes. This was before he was as big as he is today. He was a really nice guy and appreciative of the praise I gave him about his comedy. Csb.
