What happened to CJ?

It's the Iowa coaches. They brain wash these QB. He is just like Vandenburg and JR. KF and staff are terrible at developing QBs. They can take a talented guy like CJB and make him terrible with bad plays and poor protection. Not to mention they brain wash them into not making mistakes. How many chances downfield does Iowa take in a game? 1?

The decisions he's making, it's one of 3 things:

1. He's playing hurt

2. He's been neutered by our sh** skill position coaches (and Kirk).

3. He's on the take (I mean yes this isn't serious but for f***'s sake, you compare how he played last year to this year and it makes you f***ing have to pause for a sec to entertain such a notion.)

OK, I'm fairly drunk, so forgive me if I'm way off. But he had what, one bad pass before the last drive? The comeback to Nash that was in the dirt was the only pass I thought was subpar. The seam throw to Kittle while blanketed wasn't the best decision. The INT at the end was obviously pressing in crunch time. Is there something else?

Again, I'll mention the OL and the quality of receivers.

It's not just this game though...

One of the things we have heard all year is how much control CJ has been given at the LOS. I think we've heard this story with other Iowa QBs as they've matured. I wonder if part of the problem is that the Iowa is giving CJ too much control and that's causing him to press. It seems like CJ is thinking too much now instead of running the plays and reacting to what he sees.

Or he may be injured.

I don't think he's any worse. I think his receivers and oline are drastically worse. NW had six sicks all year. They had six sacks today.

The very first drive Boone Meyers let's a man go untouched to kill him. Croston then let him get brutalized all day.

It's certainly not all on him. Poor receivers and oline certainly are hurting. However, he is not looking like the QB of 2015.

There was discussion here after the ISU have that he is the best QB to ever play at Iowa. That made me giggle. I can see someone under the age of 30 thinking that, but no way is he better than another #16 that works for BTN now. Not at the time of that notion and certainly not after the last 3 weeks. Not even close

Alot goes on the oline, which is especially upsetting since our coach and his son are supposed to be guru's. If he is hurt they need to get him out and get him rested if not he seems to have lost a step. His arm is decent enough but there were a couple times today 2015 CJ takes off and gets good yards and 2016 whiffed.

CJ is playing exactly like the coaches want him to...running less and throwing downfield less.

I guess Brad Banks will still be the best Hawkeye QB I've ever seen.. I thought with a strong encore to last yr CJ was gonna take it.. Welp so far SO BAD with that!

Anyone under the Age of 30 still has to put banks, Tate, and stanzi ahead of cj
