What happened to the TX connection?

Hayden set up the pipeline to TX and it had continued pretty sell under KF but it sure seems to have dried up. I only count 2 Texans on the roster.

I realize the are trying to get back into FL and have 6 on the roster from the sunshine state. But they did move away from FL for a while after realizing they were not retaining FL guys after their first year or two.

Too much state to cover with limited resources? Similar transfer issues as the FL issue? Too much competition?

The Texas schools seem to be performing better than they were in the early 2000s. We've seen Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, and SMU all become relevant in recent years. I also think Ken O'Keefe was a big recruiter in Texas and Greg Davis. We might not have the connection with the high school programs in Texas like we did in the past. Hayden was all we needed to stay connected with Texas during his tenure.

SMU resurgence & smaller programs like Texas St. UTSA have gotten a lot better & are also options now for Texas kids who want to play D-1
