1. People have been incensed over the end of Roe for so long that it's less of a motivating factor than it was.
2. For some reason, black males are unenthusiastic about Kamala
3. At least some Americans who would have been happy to vote for Kamala, are unwilling to cast their vote for a member of the administration that continues to fund genocide.
4. Those concerned about the environment and climate change are disappointed with her flip-flop on fracking and wonder what else they can't count on her for.
5. Hispanics are less strongly in support of Dems now.
6. Rs have very successfully weaponized immigration and inflation.

How many of these voters can Kamala afford to lose, even if they don't vote for Trump?

I'll go with 3 main themes, and this is mostly with respect to the non-hardcore left and right, that were never going to budge.

- It's been another two years since Trump's term. People have short memories, they forget the two impeachments (one of which was for trying to subvert the election). They forgot the daily incidents, what he said, what he did, "did you hear what Trump said?", the exhaustion of a norm-breaking wackjob. And for some, the memories that they do have are good ones. There were good times during Trump's term, whether he caused them or not is pretty much irrelevant, they happened when he was in office.

- Inflation. Sure, it's nice that the rate has finally slowed, but there's no going back to the old prices that people remember, they see it every day. Again, it doesn't matter if Joe Biden didn't cause it, it doesn't matter if covid played a role, or the war in Ukraine, or that our peer countries had it worse. The reality is that it happened when Biden was in office.

- Another two years of the the trend of Black and Brown voters shifting to the right. It turns out their economic class is more important than their demographic class. The non-college/working class voters are shifting to the right, Black and Brown people just like their White counterparts. The message of grievances, victimhood, stick it to the establishment resonate with these people. The populism message resonates. These people were never all that socially liberal in the first place.


The popular vote may end up being closer than ever before, but who cares if Trump makes it closer in CA and NY but still loses? Who cares if he runs it up in Florida rather than a narrow victory? The existence of the electoral college still means that only about 7 states actually matter, so fight the battles there.
