This is the first year since 2003 that I have not attended at least one game in Kinnick. I have seen some mighty fine performances (Ohio State 2004, Wisconsin 2004 especially), and was on a pretty good streak, but as of late my presence has caused some losses.

Here are the games I have been at.
Northwestern 2009 (was at Minnesota 2009 which was a W, but a snoozefest)
Wisconsin 2010, Northwestern 2010 in Evanston (was at the Eastern Illinois home opener)
Michigan State 2011 (i was at the Michigan game that year..on of the few bright moments that season)
Central Michigan 2012
Wisconsin 2013 (was at Western Michigan game, was a blowout win)
Nebraska 2014

Needless to say, my presence over the past few years have led Iowa to have poor showings. My staying away from Kinnick this year was the least I could do for the team :p

The same as every year, but then I'm not sure how my tax dollars are used by the state in support of Regents institutions.

All signs point to the unsettling realization that I might have placed Kirk under the imperius curse in January and have been pulling the strings thereafter.

Also I hadn't worn my favorite Hawkeye pullover since the disastrous loss in Tuscon 5 years ago. After deciding that much worse shit transpired since, I rocked it yesterday however. Worked like a charm. Did my part to punk the skers.

I cheered loudly (ask my neighbors) and doubted heavily. I guess I'm fairweather because the last time I was in Kinnick Tim Dwight was playing. I'm kind of old and poor but mostly tall. I don't need much but I need a modicum of comfort. Last time I was at Kinnick I left at half time and went to a bar.

I ate Nachos when Iowa destroyed NW this year. Since that game I have eaten Nachos every game. Not just any Nachos, I have to make them.

Saute'd Poblano, Jalapeno, Onion, Crimini mushroom, fresh garlic, Graziano sausage, ground beef, chili powder, cumin, oregano, Hy-Vee Mexican Cheese blend, Santitos tortilla chips (yellow, not the white), sour cream, and Mad Butcher mild salsa.

I figure even if they lose, (which they haven't) I still get to enjoy some delicious Nachos. This is a superstition I am not willing to give up.

You did what you could my man. And, you are tall.

I made my once a year trip back home and went to the Minnesota game. Brought my 5 year old for his for his first game, also held up my cell phone light during that song....I'd say that's a pretty good contribution. Also this is the first year my son has been interested and to him Iowa being undefeated is normal. I'm a bit jealous

I ditched my Stanzi jersey at the start of the season and broke out the old school Bob Sanders jersey for all home games but one--the Blackout game. For THAT game, I went rooting around in the attic and dusted off a classic: Ladell Betts # 46.

You're all welcome.

Nice!

I dusted off my Jermelle Lewis jersey and now I call it my LaShaun Daniels jersey.

I pulled the beating hearts out of 15 virgins and burned them in a voodoo ritual. Unless one of them lied, we're winning the NC, it's simple science.

I don't think I've seen an entire game straight through. Always have something come up so I have to watch the gamecast on my phone (Yahoo Sportstacular).

I also have a 3 year old so when things get tense I walk away from the TV so I don't say anything that I don't want her saying. I didn't watch the onside kick yesterday for example.

And after it was announced that they'd be brining Greg Davis back I swore off going out of my way to watch Iowa until they made changes. I think Brian Ferrbtz may have been a God send for Iowa, but my not gong out of the way to watch them has worked. We have a Christmas Party next Saturday that I have to go to so the streak continues. You are welcome.

Former season ticket holder, 6 years removed because of the reality of 3 children in sports and dance. Contributed this year by making it to Kinnick for 5 of the 7 home games, including some treacherous driving last Saturday to send these seniors off the way they deserved.

I was at the Pitt game and I drove 4 and a half hours (normally a 2.5 hour trip) through a blizzard to make the Purdue game.

Watched the games on tv and wore lots of black and yellow... also yelled "Go Hawks" when I'd see someone with Hawkeye gear on, which isn't too often here in Long Beach. So, you're welcome.

I have worn my Iowa "hoodie" and yellow Iowa stocking hat (30 year old) out and about here in the heart of Badger country for several weeks...not one Badger has acknowledge it with a "congratulations" or "Go Hawks"...which makes it priceless.

I'm in a very similar situation as you...Iowa is 0-9 in the last 9 games I've attended dating back to 2003. I thought it was 0-7, but after further review, its actually 9 in a row. Loses i've witnessed include:

@ ASU 2004
Michigan 2005
@ Michigan 2006
Western Michigan 2007
Northwestern 2009
@ Arizona 2010
Michigan St. 2011
Nebraska 2012
MSU 2013

Didn't go to a game last year and told myself before the season started I wouldn't be going again this year either. Despite the desire to go this year after the winning streak picked up steam, no way I'm jinxing this season by attending in person. That is my contribution, taking one for the team. I'm going to have to figure out how to break this nasty losing streak. Considering I typically go to one game a year since I live 800 miles from Kinnick, I try to pick a good/appealing opponent..perhaps I'll have to ditch that strategy and just pick the easiest game on the schedule for the sake of witnessing a win.

I gave up my season tickets after almost 40 years and bought a boat.

I figure I deserve an award for taking one for the team.

Great thread! Fox should tap into this for their pre-game show. Some great material in here!

I take full credit for the Minnesota win, as it was the only home game we were able to attend this season. I'll take advantage for the Big Ten championship in advance, as I'll be wearing my lucky black and gold striped overalls. Thinking about downing some of those lucky nachos Saturday at Lucas Oil. Hoping like heck they have nachos, as they may be the ultimate key to victory. And yes, plenty of prayers. . . .

And all of you unlucky Hawk fans, STAY AWAY!!! In fact, don't even watch at home. There's a lot to be said for sitting at home with Dolph and Podolak.
