What is bad with our BB facilities, etc.

That is basically the same as Kentucky's. They throw a few team managers, some tudors, walk-ons and call it a normal dorm.
Not a normal dorm if you gotta live with this guy.

The dorms/living conditions are also a consideration in this equation. Kentucky is the gold standard with a special basketball dorm/house with a chef and 24 hour snacks/drinks etc. It's basically a Marriot Courtyard lol with more amenities. Not only do players want all the swag, they also want to be "special" which includes all the extra bells and whistles. Far down on that list is a degree in a solid program from a good school!
It is my understanding that athlete only living quarters were banned by the NCAA years ago. I don't doubt the veracity of the OP, but if Kentucky has this, I'm sure the other bluebloods would have them also. I believe Iowa athletes have 24 hr. food service.

Ya I’m old. i walked on in football under Hayden, then played baseball for two years so no I didn’t play basketball for Iowa. Used to talk to Maxwell regularly but haven’t for some time. I see him on the bench so I know he is still with the team. I live out of state and haven’t made it back for a while as I was busy coaching.. .i think I’ll stand by that the strength program is lagging most others in the conference as I have been in most of BIG facilities in the last ten years. How does Iowa’s compare to Nebraska, Ohio State, Northwestern, or Wisconsi? Those I have toured recently.
Sounds like you need to join the I Club and become a contributor. That’s how these things happen. Most of the complainers never give a dime.

Awfully presumptuous of me hooper. I’ve contributed and attended numerous I-club events.

And those were very graphic in details about the proposed changes, if I recall.

I guess if gave the impression that I thought they were using the same facilities as the mid 90’s as they are now I did not express myself very well. My bad. I was aware of the expansion. Heck, I was on the bid list for the old equipment. Bought trailer fulls of it, that’s part of how I got to know Bill. Starting with Dr Tom I’ve always been more troubled about the commitment to a strength program even more than the facilities. I’m familiar with how the 3 previous staffs ran the program but no first hand knowledge of how Fran runs his (but it is the same strength coach). Our facilities are wonderful and a men’s basketball practice facility with a weight room not shared by other programs would not help the program. I’m done and never should have weighed in.

Ha, i guess you’re right. I still have the blanket on the wall, the jacket in the closet, and the ring on the finger with the I. Saying I’m a current letterman just doesn’t sound right though. What is proper “former letter earner”?

in your defense, I always just thought you are forever a letterman. Maybe an ex-player, but the letter is always yours. Awesome jacket, btw.
