Exactly. I don’t want the federal government providing my healthcare or education but I want to make sure every citizen has access to affordable and high quality forms of both. I couldn’t check those boxes because Op didn’t ask the question right.

I want them providing both. Better service at a better cost than private.

Fair enough, not saying others should not hold that belief. I’m just saying I think enough Americans would prefer government assurance vs government provision that those should be options in the poll too.
I personally believe access to low cost/high quality healthcare and education should be rights we have as Americans. They are rights in other countries and if we want to honor the fantasy that we are the greatest country on earth we should match this very basic ask.

I know what you are saying but to provide means to employ all the doctors etc and to have govt hospitals.
Medicare works well as a program to collect funds, cover people, and provide savings. The Dept of Educ should be a leader in Ed Research and putting out items that can work but not trying to do the Bush2 No Child Left Behind program that was hard to employ.
The Fed govt does many things very well like checks and balances on labor/business, environ protections, help maintain infrastructure, oversee drugs/meds, Ag and so many things to make them more or less workng in all the states
