What should the future College Football Playoff look like?

Before the College Football Playoff expands, and before it renegotiates a media contract that could push total revenues up to $2 billion – revenues that will far surpass even those of March Madness – the playoff should first reform itself.

Put simply, the playoff should require that most of its lucrative revenue distributions be earmarked, for the first time, to specifically advance athlete health, safety and education.

Right now, it is a poor +1 system. In a perfect world, the +1 system should come from the traditional bowl alignment, with Rose Bowl between champion of Big Ten vs. Pac 12.

The SEC wants the expanded 12, since it expands SEC at-large teams. With news of OU and Texas, the brakes were tapped and a stalemate has arose.

Go back to traditional bowls for now, with a final +1.

Reasonable for player safety and wellness.
