What will we look like this time without CJ?

It sounded like CJ might miss a few games based on Frans dodging during the post game interview. Will we fare better this time around without him?

Knowing how we tanked last time he was out of the lineup I was wondering how everyone thinks we may play without him this time around.

If you recall, the Iowa season turnaround changed completely when Fran switched to the M2M, the 1st game in M2M was at tMSU, and was a 30 point blow out win, and was won without CJF.

IOWA continues to show real signs of metrics improvement, in the top 10 in defensive metrics since the M2M,

I might point to the game at tMSU and say that defense will be the key to winning, more than a marginal offensive contributor on a team full of offensive contributors

Couldn’t agree more here. Wiscy is very offensively challenged right. Really struggling. If CJ isn’t 100% leave him out. I’d start Patrick. Murray seems to play better off the bench. Not a knock on Nunge but man we are actually pretty good playing man to man D right now. Hated the Luka-Jack defensive combo. Murray, Patrick, Joe T can all really get it after it on the defensive end. Which leads to us getting out in transition.

I want the 3 seed in the BTT, but the results of the BTT don't really matter to me a whole lot. Of course its better to win than lose, but going into the NCAA as healthy as possible is my hope.

All players seem to be playing well. I would like Wieskamp to start hitting FT's at high rate, Joe T continue his trending up, CJ to be healthy, Luka to stay out of any foul trouble, Connor to be really picky about when he shoots, and the rest to keep doing what they are doing.

I’d like to get that 3 seed in the B1G, mostly because we’d likely get a chance at both Illinois and Michigan. Now really as many have said, winning the B1G tourney while great isn’t the be all end all. It’s all about the National Tournament. If we get a chance to play against Kofi and Dickerson, Josh O might get some terrific experience against 1 or 2 of the best big men in college basketball under game conditions. Sure he goes against Luka in practice but there is a good chance he may be needed in the tourney for several minutes and the better prepared he is for that, the better prepared the Hawks will be if circumstances dictate the need for him to play. So win Sunday , secure the 3 seed and get the big guy as ready as possible. Had Jack not gotten hurt , he wouldn’t have needed to be prepared this year. When Jack got hurt plans had to change. I like the change of more Keegan, Patrick and Joe T but next in Kris and Josh up front in the limelight is pretty big unknown.

Seriously, I'd probably dress him, but not start against WI. If things are going well, he doesn't even take his warm ups off, if they aren't maybe you sneak him in for a few minutes.

Of course, he could be 100% by practice today, which makes everything we're discussing here moot.

It is, but winning the BTT, and knocking off UM and Illinois in the process would nab us a #1 seed.

My goodness, bunch of nervous nellies. He bumped his shin, he needs to keep playing if healthy. You have to stay in game condition, rhythm as a player. We are on a great stretch of ball, don't change anything unless he is really hurt. This bump seemed to have nothing to do with his previous injury, just a hard fall.

He has had a lower leg injury. I've speculated that it is plantar fasciitis but I'm certainly not sure about that. You have no idea if this is related to his previous injury, neither do I. I would think the err on the side of caution would make the most sense.

Hawk Central said it is Plantar a couple weeks ago.
I thought he bent his foot to far forward and may have reaggravated it slightly but I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night

I would suspect he’s out until Fran states otherwise. Just Frans body language and evasive answer. Hope I’m wrong.

Plantar is obviously a problem if he has it - but I've never heard it called a "lower leg injury".

The doctors will clear him if playing would not cause further damage. If he is cleared, I hope he plays.

Josh will not be playing any minutes from here on barring a B1G tourney blowout game.

I might even have him start for a few minutes to see how the game goes and sit him as soon as a lead develops.

Yep. Win at Wisconsin will lock up a 2 seed.

The game Sunday is in Iowa City actually, but barring a complete meltdown in the BTT I agree with you, hard to drop the Hawks below the 2 line if they take care of business against Bucky and get at least one win in the BTT.

If CJ and training staff believe he is good to go against Wisky, he should play. Any discomfort, and he needs to sit down right away and cheer for the team. The game against Wisky might not matter in terms of BTT seeding, if Purdon't loses, but it would make us a very likely 2-seed in the dance. Besides, we all should should want to beat Wisky and finish the regular season with momentum. Lose to Wisky and then get upset in our first BTT game, and the Hawks are likely to fall a notch in the dance, which means tougher competition, especially in the sweet 16 round.

Agree, which is why I am freaking the **** out here! CJF was our best man defender.

I disagree but it would be under certain circumstances in the B1G tourney and likely only against those 2 mentioned players. Those circumstances would be front line foul trouble in an otherwise close game for a few minutes here or there. Say 4 fouls on both Keegan and Luka with 6-8 minutes left or 3 fouls on both in the first half again in a close game if Illinois or Michigan is force feeding the post. Which I’d do if I had the Hawks in foul trouble up front.

If osu or Purdue loses you definitely hold him out. If not.....not sure as I don’t know how bad it is. Root for Illinois and/or Indiana on Saturday.

After watching last night’s game, Josh O would have a difficult time making it 5 minutes against Kofi without fouling out. Way too green and slow!

After watching the replay, I don't think its all that serious or related. If you noticed he was right back out on the bench and not receiving treatment in the locker room. If he was that injured, I don't think he'd have come back out until at least after the half.

Given he didn’t get in the game against Nebraska until we put the non-scholarship players in with 3 minutes left, I can’t imagine Fran is really planning on giving Josh O any minutes in the BTT. If he gets any minutes against Michigan or Illinois it would probably be because we are in a really bad spot with both Luka and Keegan in foul trouble.

I hope you’re right. Fran’s tone in the press conference made me nervous as well but it sounds like nearly everyone else interpreted that more as just Fran not wanting to give Wisconsin any info on the state of the injury.

We'll see of course. While you could see he was sore, he really didn't seem to have any issue putting weight on it when he walked off on his own. Also as I mentioned normally when these guys are hurt they take them into the locker for treatment or whatever and they rarely come right back out. He was back out quickly, and I don't even think he had his warm ups on. It looked to me like he thought he might be going back in. Of course already up about 25 points there was no reason to put him back in.
