KF needs tp analyze why Iowa State can put starting RBs, Receivers and now QBs in the NFL and he can't. I know he has put TE and DBs in there but offense is his weak link. Hint: Evaluate your offense in today's climate, your OC and your recruiting staff and make changes best for the good of Iowa football not the Ferentz family.
The Big Ten tournament, yes. A small but important distinction.
Those are the type of positions where recruiting top talent is key. Seems like Iowa’s qb stats always go down as they progress through their career. Maybe stanzi was the last guy to buck that trend. Guys like Breece Hall and Shonn Greene aren’t developed. They are just studs.
How did that mighty ISU offense do against the Hawks while Purdy and Breece and Lazard were there?

No, it's not Kirk's offense, despite the convenient cop out. Not only has Kirk never called a single play in his 23 years at Iowa, but he was able to climb the coaching ranks without ever calling a play in his entire coaching career. He's extremely hands off...you can see it in the huddles.
Brian is the play caller. Brian is responsible for the offense. Brian led the Hawks to the 130th ranked offense in the country. Brian's plays went 0-11 on 3rd down & 0-2 on 4th down against a lowly Kentucky team in the bowl game. Brian is the guy who has the most obvious play calling tendencies in college football, and opposing coaches are open about it. Brian is the QBs coach who headed up this year's QB regression and made the call as to who starts at QB. "What's the upside?"
Let's remember, Kirk was the head coach in 2002 when the offense looked light years different. That team, under a real OC, had 3 guys rush for over 5 yards per carry because the play calling didn't allow teams to stack the box. That team actually threw the ball down the field to WRs instead of using them to block. Legend TE Dallas Clark didn't even lead the team in catches, because the offense was designed to throw the ball down the field. That team had a WR average 20 yards per reception. Under Brian, the Hawks went weeks without throwing a single pass 20 yards.
Finally, Polasek didn't "break the OL recruiting." Iowa's consistently had more 4**** athletes on the OL than on the rest of the team combined. They just aren't being coached up and are not improving once on campus because the current OL coach is awful at his job.

Of course Junior is compelled to run Pappy's antedeluvian, cringeworthy offensive scheme that might struggle to score on Iowa Wesleyan.
We're heading into February. 3 months since the last regular season game. Iowa may be the only team in Power 5 football that hasn't had a single coaching change.
Nepotism is one thing, but what's the Kirk's excuse for failing to replace the inadequate OL coach and WR coach? Instead, he's doubled down (like promoting Brian after last season's debacle), sending Coach Barnett to lead the charge in recruiting going forward. That's right, it's Barnett, not the reputable coaches, out on the road all month making house calls. Very strange making a lame duck coach of the softest OL in football as your lead recruiter. What message does that send to the kids he's recruiting if/when he finally gets the boot? That's not good for anyone involved...which is why most coaching decisions were done toward the end of football season or immediately after.
Similarly, zero word on what the WR coach is currently doing. He's certainly not out recruiting. Still not a single commit (or even visit) from a D1 scholarship WR. He did manage to convince Ohio State's 14th string walk on WR to walk on at Iowa with a promise of playing time. That's the upgrade Iowa needed to replace Johnson & Bruce?

Leistikow seems like Kirk's bitch now too, must have gotten the memo that if he keeps bringing up uncomfortable topics like the offense he'd get blacklisted. Almost February with nothing being addressed would be amazing at real programs. BAU at Nep U
