There is no ball movement. No player movement. A lot of needless dribbling. And a lot of one-on-one play.

The first 10 minutes they put on a clinic. Then they get stagnant and go into a funk. It's understandable to have a few possessions of poor ball and player movement, but Iowa seems to have long stretches where they just look constipated on offense. At least, that's what I've seen in this game and a lot during the losing streak.

For those who make the point about Fran not calling time outs, these long stretches of anemic offense might be a symptom of that. I don't know. It's hard to explain such a sharp contrast which goes beyond the normal ebb and flow in any game of making and missing shots.

Weve been witnessing the same exact product for the last 10 games with no apparent change. When that happens it becomes a matter of coaching. Don't understand what Fran is trying to do, or what he even addresses in practice.

Also his obsession with playing zone is killing us. As soon as we went to it they made 7 straight. Unfold your damn arms and make the call to get us out of it.

I think part of the problem (and yes this can be attributed to coaching) is that the players aren't fully adhering to his message. When he says at halftime, "our shot selection was poor", you can't assume he isn't or won't address it. The question is, will the players respond? That is partly on coaching, whether they do or don't respond, but at the same time, when you have the perfect play drawn up and the guys miss the layups.......well, that's something else.

Very true. I'm probably too quick to place the blame on Fran. Speaking of missed layups... Come on Uhl!

Run, run, and then run. This team is SO much better when we push the ball. Set offense....not so much.

That was a horrendous shooting 2nd half and bad offense overall. We offset this by protecting the ball. Had we not had the lowest amount of TO's in an NCAA game sine 2001 we lose this game.

....they win?

Yes, but clearly there are things to correct moving forward. Can you imagine the mood of this board had Iowa lost (which they easily could have)? "Worst choke artists in the history of basketball" "Fran is the dumbest coach ever" "Gesell sucks so bad" etc etc etc.

maybe that would have been some of our lower companion reactionary dumbass voices, but thankfully not all of us.

Uthoff was being aggressive...that is good. He fell too much in love with deep 3.

Gesell was 0-8. If you believe posters on this board, he is supposed to look for his shot more.

Jok and Uthoff went 5 for 20 from 3 point land. We were
not getting many easy baskets. Gesell is a good assist
man and when he is on the bench due to foul trouble, the
Hawkeyes offense stagnates.

I get nervous every time I see Mike bent over at the waist, dribbling the ball, burning time off the clock. Our offensive efficiency has to be terrible in that situation.

Ehh, they really can run some good set plays. (Watch our first game against Michigan)

The problem is the way they shoot the ball sometimes, they make it harder on themselves. And then when every team just switches on screens, what are you gonna do to create offense aside from lazy perimeter pass, lazy perimeter pass, two dribbles to the side and shoot a fadeaway jump shot?
