I've got some MSU friends that were talking championship next year due to the class MSU is bringing in along with the thought Jackson would come to MSU and with the return of Davis. Now Davis is going to the NBA and Jackson is heading to Kansas and just like that MSU just went from being a possible top 5 team to a top 10 -15 team for next year. Indiana will be a pretty good team but likely not a team good enough to win the whole thing. The B1G has had some teams get a game away from winning it all over the past 10 seasons but it has been a long time since a B1G team has won it all. When do you guys think it will happen? Or what is preventing the B1G from getting it done?

My take this next season was set up perfectly for MSU even without Jackson then Davis decided to go pro. Davis was a freak this last year and I never understood why he didnt play more. I think he could have been a 1st team all-american next season. Davis, Harris and Tum Tum would have been a nice trio to add to the studs they have coming in but Davis leaving early hurts MSU a lot right now. On the flip side the B1G really wont have any real elite teams next year which should make the B1G season fun to watch and help the Hawks out some. The B1G just likely won't get any major national play.

Unfortunately, Wisconsin is probably going to be a really good team being they lose nobody and it looks like Hayes is coming back. Indiana loses Yogi, but they return a very solid cast otherwise, especially with Bryant forgoing the draft. I think they probably win the conference again. You know MSU will be there. I think Ohio State had a young team as well. Northwestern has also continued to see an uptick in recruiting so they could make some noise.

Not sure about Maryland's recruiting classes, but they could potentially lose 5 of their best players with Stone, Trimble, and Carter maybe going to the draft and Layman/Sulaimon graduating.

I have to agree that there are few elite teams. Indiana/Wisconsin would be the only two I'd consider going into the year.

I think Iowa can be what Wisconsin was last season. There will be growing pains but the talent is there and I think Iowa could be a top 4 B1G team late
in the season even if the standings dont say so. I think Wisconsin could end up being the best B1G team next season but I also think Iowa is a year behind Wisconsin and following their path. I think there is potential for Iowa to be a top 3 team in the B1G in 2 years.

Next year some of the "usual suspects" teams will be very talented. Duke, UK, KU, and Arizona. Thank god Villanova beat a blue-blood this year.

We all know that anything can happen, however.

I think Wisconsin is the favorite going into next year. They return everybody plus add 4 star guard Brevin Pritzl who red-shirted this season. Indiana should be really good again but if Troy Williams goes pro, that's another tough loss. They also must replace Yogi who ran that show. MSU has lots of question marks going into next year even with a top five class coming in.

I don't foresee a BIG team winning it all next year, but we should have a final four caliber team in either Wisconsin, Indy, or MSU. Don't completely rule out Michigan as they return a lot of talent and should be better overall next year.

I don't see it happening for a couple years. B1G teams need to pick up their recruiting. I think Indiana wins the B1G next year. Anuoby and Bryant are going to build a wall around the hoop and not let anyone into the lane.

It's not like the Big Ten doesn't produce talented teams. But when you go from playing Hockey in the Big Ten, with two teams getting all the close calls, to actual basketball in the NCAA's and those same two teams aren't everybody's darlings anymore...it's hard to win a Championship.

Agree, MSU picked up the recruiting this year but then the bottom fell out when their best returning player at their most importnat position for them decided to leave early. Inidana is doing well at recrutiing but Ohio St and Michigan have started to fall off. This is great for the Hawks but for the B1G it appears the conference is weakining as far as elite teams go. Depth wise the B1G is very stacked with teams that would fall into the top 80 teams though.

I wouldn't put any B1G team in the top 5 as far as likely title contenders next year. Maybe not even top 10.
College b-ball can fluctuate a lot from year to year with all the one and done talent. And with that it's anybody's guess how good a chance a B1G team will have 2 or more years from now.

I think Wisconsin will be better than Indiana, but who wins the conference will depend a lot on scheduling. Indiana won some games last year because of Yogi, that will make the difference for them.

MSU will be oozing with young talent but my guess is, as someone above noted, that it will take a year or two to prime it for the B1G. Certainly, their frontcourt will not be as strong or experienced as Izz would like.

Maryland? Could surprise me but looks like a major rebuilding year.

Badgers. Certainly optimistic but recall that Pritzl's redshirt was due to a nagging foot injury. They will need his outside shooting to be a real threat. If fully recovered and shooting like he was before the injury, they will do very well this season.

Minny? Should be much better. How Much????

Crazy that the big ten has only one national title in 26 years. Shows big ten basketball lacks elite talent and it is magnified with how many great players in the NBA are from the big ten.

The Big Ten also has won a national title in the past sixteen years. Also, the Big Ten has had ample elite talent. As for the Not (really) Basketball Anyway, I am not a fan, do not waste time watching and would be the least qualified to comment.

The Big Ten has represented itself well, both in the variety of teams and the number of appearances in the Final Four and championship game for anyone to say it is an inferior league.

The Big Ten has had 6 DIFFERENT TEAMS in the championship game the last 16 years. Your post is nonsense.
Iowa's about the only real Big10 team that hasn't played in that Nat Title game this millinium. That's insane how good this conference has been!

I bet they were talking final four this year too, how did that work out for them?
