Through Saturday's spring game, here is the status on players you might have forgotten or wondered what is going on:

1) Ryan Ward, Offensive Tackle: was there, not in uniform, did not practice, must be hurt

2) Jake Dukey: partial teal of patella tendon; surgery on April 27; out until September

3) Andrew Stone, WR: did not practice; unspecified injury (hamstring?)

4) Sean Welsh, an OL starter last season, is still missing in action; it is not academic related.

5) Andre Harris, WR; according to March Morehouse, CR Gazette, he appears lost; Scott Dochterman called him "a miss" in terms of him panning out

6) You might recall that in one recruiting class, 5 WR's were signed; only 1 will contribute at WR this season:

* Vandenberg - will contribute this year

The other 4:
* Derrick Mitchell (now a RB)
* Andre Harris - appears lost, per the CR Gazette
* Willies - transferred
* Damond Powell - graduated

Welsh has been gone for 3+ weeks now.. starting to doubt KF's explanation.

I listened to the Gazette's podcast from April 27; they are not even sure what the problem is; he is not hurt; originally, it was thought to be a family issue.....

We need him back to help shore up the OL

LOL, Dukey....

I hear he is a real pain in the arse. Struggling to break through. Needs a hard push every once in a while.

Anybody know how/if CJ Hilliard is progressing? What position is he scheduled to play? Don't think I've read anything about him since he arrived on campus.

Derrick Mitchell was a better WR prospect in my opinion and now he's a running back. The only Frosh that has a chance to contribute is Jerminic Smith. He's a polished Texas WR. Can you imagine our receivers next year with Smith gone? Wowsers!

Smith isn't the only one. It sounds like Falconer could be a freshman WR that could contribute right away as well. I am interested to see if Josh Jackson can break through at WR because the kid has some speed. Mitchell will be a better RB than he was WR.

Willies and Powell had speed and never played. Remarking that a player is likely to see the field at Iowa because they "have speed" is a potential indicator of a learning disability.

He's a RB at Iowa, but he wasn't even good enough to see the field there for his HS team. Another recruiting gem from Captain Clueless.[/QUOTE]
In fairness, CJ was recruited so they would have access to and maybe even be a favorite for his brother.

And next year we start playing the big boys of the B1G East again; double wowsers!

Why cant we develop RBs and WRs like we do OL and DL men?

I would question developement at OL right now. That positions group hasnt been that great over the past few seasons and this year looks to be an up hill battle.

Hopefully everything with Welsh works out. I wonder if it is a sick family member?

Also to the OP, it is Vandeberg

Apparently you lack reading comprehension.

can we hear rumblings between now and when school gets out who leaves the program. thanks.

It's almost like the guy that we hired to be the OL coach a few years ago isn't very good at his job....
