Where Does RFKjr Stand on Vaccines?

I support his wish to get pharmaceutical ads off of TV's. I hope that is the only thing he is successful with.
I agree but I also hope he would be able to kickstart a serious convo about the American diet.

I don't disagree with that but we already tried this and the Obama's got crucified for it. JFK's ideas are going to have to be something other than "banning junk food". I'm open to the idea of bringing our accepted food products and additives more in line with the European standards though. It would be naive to think that corporate money hasn't influenced many of the decisions to keep certain things legal while Europe has banned them.

Unlike most of my liberal friends, I have some hope that RFKjr might do good things in some areas. But his views on vaccines are mostly just wrong. Here's a brief review by a respected scientist.

the "normal stuff" he talks about is the same thing virtually every public health person I've ever worked with or heard also talks about

eating better food and getting more exercise

those issues aren't present in america because no one in government thinks they are issues...the problem is what do you do to address it

and how do you do it in a way that has any chance of success in a conservative admin like trump's

100% agree with you. The big food lobby has been very successful. So many multi national food companies have bought American brands yet they love that they don’t need to change to European standards here.
“Banning junk food” is too generalized. Start with the preservatives and the processing chemicals and frankly stop the silliness of “fat shaming” and instead focus on healthy choices and not being oversee.

This is the main reason why I doubt RFK will succeed even in areas where he talks sense (corruption, testing, better regulations...).

His anti-Big Pharma views are pure lefty populism, and American really needs better safety and truth-in-advertising standards for supplements - just to mention 2 arenas when I hope RFK makes a dent.

But how does a "better regulations" guy survive in an anti-regulation corporatocracy?

i just want to understand this...

the problem with the american food industry is that there is TOO LITTLE involvement/oversight/regulation from the federal governemnt?

do people actually think a trump-gop controlled house/senate/presidency is going to legislate these things out of our food?

it's hard to take seriously when you see trump tweeting about obesity and the chronic disease epidemic

while also claiming that fast food is "cleaner" than other restaurants and having a well known habit of eating mcdonalds all the time

Remember the last time someone in DC wanted to address the American diet? Specifically, what the govt actually pays for? The right went f'n BALLISTIC. Trad was frothing at the mouth that HS football players wouldn't get enough to eat.

I'd LOVE to see a serious discussion about additives and processed foods. The first step in that discussion has to be the elimination of Citizens United and a ban on unlimited dark money flowing into campaigns.

These so called food products have been around for generations longer than Trump has been in office. Senators and congressional representatives are lobbied because these companies have manufacturing and processing facilities in their states. That spells JOBS.

Look who's joining Trump for his fast food repast...

yes i understand the most basic facts of the issue...thnks

the question is how you think an administration that is defining itself as a crusader against government regulation is going to address this

I am a conservative and I was NEVER mad at the First Lady for saying that. She’s correct.

[1] Yes.

[2] No.

One of several instances where Trump attracted voters by co-opting lefty populism - but either has no intention of following through or knows Congress will save him from having to try.

No, but it does present a great opportunity to milk the food industry out of millions to pay them off not to do it. Remember, the Trump administration doesn't care about consistency. They care about money. Specifically money going directly to them.

The thing is the Department of HHS has as one of its responsibilities the promotion of health and wellness. Maybe it shouldn’t be political?

Maybe money going to the government to help pay for citizens on Medicare/Medicaid for issues created by poor lifelong eating habits?
It’s a circular mess.

Hopefully they keep around the effective vaccines that actually work and parents of newborns give their kiddos the vaccines that work.
Relating to food, they need to get rid of all the additives and preservatives that aren’t good for us. It’s been mention before that America puts all sorts of garbage into food that isn’t allowed in other countries. Look at red dye 40 for example. All it does is dye the food red yet it is horrible for people and banned in Europe.
Then again why stop with food. Europe has tougher restrictions on medical vaccines and drugs as well. Why America doesn’t care what they put into their body is beyond me. Maybe they trust the government cares about them 🤷
