Put your egg shells back in the carton after cracking them? My wife does this and seems to think it's common practice. Is it that difficult to go 2 feet to the trash?

Only if I'm finishing the dozen. Otherwise, they go into the trash or garbage disposal.
I just drag the trash can next to where I'm cracking eggs.
Shells go into the food waste bin, cartons go in the recycling bin.

This is the strange part, she's a clean freak in other all aspects of life. She cleans the entire kitchen before she sits down to eat. Can't eat with a mess around her. So chalk this one up as confusing.

This, we quickly rinse them out and crush them up and either they go into the compost, or garden and we put some in the chicken feed for our chickens for calcium for them.

I've always heard egg shells and coffee grounds aren't supposed to go down the garbage disposal...
From Google: "egg shells are not recommended for the garbage disposal as the membrane can get wrapped around the impellers and cause damage"

My grandma did this- then she put the carton outside when the dozen was done for the birds to eat the shells?
I set them in the empty spot until I finished cracking them then throw them away. Never leave them in there though. 🤷🏼♂️

I knew someone who would do this, along with putting chicken bones back in the fridge. When I asked her why, she said to keep the kitchen garbage can smell to a minimum - and would then put them in an outside waste container the night before Garbage Day.
I rarely buy eggs, but every few months I'll get a to go pack of chicken, and I put the chicken bones back in the box into the fridge, then take the bones/box out once all the leftover chicken is eaten.

Exactly what mine looks like. You know the other eggs are protected by what they call "a shell", right? Quit being a pussy and get in there with your hot wife and do some crackin' and stackin' in the carton!
Wife does this during the spring and tosses them in our garden. Says it's good for the plants. I dunno if that's so, but that's what she does.
