At this point it seems a disingenuous to try to down play this virus. No one should be doing it, period.

The difference I see here is that Trump, leader of the US and most powerful man in the world, downplayed something that has killed millions. His voice could have made a difference if his politics didn't get in the way.

In the case of this article a government agency told agents to downplay just one smart part of the whole picture. A picture that is already grim for those involved.

So two scenarios: Trump downplays to US and World vs. DHS downplaying migrant kids at a Ft. in Texas. Both equally foolish, one that could have made a difference.

Trump had 4 years and did nothing but bungle it. Biden has been in office 7 months. Give him a break. No POTUS has solved this, there is no right answer, the can just gets kicked down the road and most administrations try to make it better. Yes, I went back and read the thread. You realize there are no perfect answers, though, right? You're in such a rush to place blame, and under some odd and misplaced presumption that there is a perfect course of action.

Wrong again, it IS easy to put a finger on this. If the Biden administration was serious about protecting the country from covid, they would clamp down hard on the border. They would not allow any positive people near anyone else. While we know it can't be stopped, it most certainly could be greatly curtailed. Someone has made the decision that illegal immigration is preferable to stopping covid.

• There are no longer fights between states over PPE
• Vaccines are readily available, and Natl Guard troops and federal assistance was used to rapidly deploy them, instead of "just leaving it up to states"
• There is no longer disinformation coming from the White House on "15 cases that will soon be down to zero" or "this is just the flu" or "you can use bleach or shine a light up someone's ass to cure it"
