I like the other match-ups too. Like others have said, I don't think they have played a team as 'long' as Iowa.
Woody 7'1 vs. Karnowski 7'1 If this is a 'push' I think that is advantage Iowa
White 6'9 vs. Wiltjer 6'10 Should be a great match-up! Let the battle begin!
Uthoff 6'9 vs. Wesley 6'4 Uthoff has got to take advantage of this mismatch, don't you think?
Jok 6'6 vs. Bell 6'2 Jok needs to win this battle and keep improving! Has played well in his 2 NCAA's
Gesell 6'2 vs. Pangos 6'2 Another good matchup!
Olaseni 6'10 vs. Sabonis 6'10 ???
I know I'm not saying much, but I just like the match-ups against these guys. Should be a great game!!!
Agree with much of this post; however, Woody vs Karnowski a 'push'. No way.
I reside in Minneapolis, have watched approximately 5 or 6 Iowa games this season, including 1 in person (vs Gophers). I respect your team more than you know and fair in my analysis. I think you have several advantages with lineups tomorrow, especially in size and defense. White will get the best of Wiltjer, I assure you that, Wiltjer is a horrible defender, yet the best shooting 6'10" PF in the country. Sounds crazy, look at his stats at Kentucky and Gonzaga. He's not as versatile as White or run the floor nearly as well, yet just as nifty around the rim. I'd take Pangos over Gesell, yet respect both at a high level. Pangos much better shooter on consistent basis Wesley was the leading scorer for 2 seasons at USC (18 ppg) before transferring to GU, yet has no outside shot and is inconsistent. I'd take Uthoff anyday. Bell is an amazing defender, as in one of the best you've seen off ball screens, yet like Jok's ceiling more, and size. A lot of give 'n take. Some are 50-50, some iowa, some gonzaga. Also depends if we're talking offense, defense, or both.
Again, that said, Karnowski is much more polished offensive player than Woody. They are the same height and Woodbury has better timing for rebounds than Karno, yet offensively, one on one, not very close. IF Karno stays out of foul trouble, this is one area which will surprise you. While Karnowski doesn't score very much, he's unbelievably efficient when he does, and at his BEST vs BEST teams. He made 7'1" Arizona Center (Tarseceooski?) look like a puppy pissing on the porch when they battled one on one. Not to mention Karnowski might be the best pure post passer on our team, not named Pangos.
Let's take a look:
Woodbury: 48.9 FG%, 6.7 ppg, 5 rpg, .9 apg, 1.0 bpg
Karnowski: 61.6 FG%, 11 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.0 bpg
Outside pure height, I honestly believe this is Gonzaga's one clear-cut Advantage at Center.

Thanks for elaborating on the big men match-up. You know more about it than I do.
I could have phrased the 'push' thing better. If you notice, I didn't say it WAS a push. I was implying that the advantage was to Karnowski, but if Woody could play him to a push (or neutralize him), I thought it tillted the scale to Iowa. That's why I said "if this is a push". Go Hawks!
